Resumo: The project will benefit the city and the area near to it. the city is a medium size romanian city with the population of cca 110.000 , geographically situated in the north-western part. A mixture of ethnics is characteristic for this area, being near to the Ukrainian and Hungarian borders. The volunteer may easiley find hungarians, ukrainians, romas, germans and a few other nationalities as well.

Economically speaking, the town had a remarcable heavy industry. The economic activity of the town has been based on the mining activities located in the surrounding areas. The mines were closed after the revolution of 89’. Nowadays the main economic activities alter between food and wood industry (the largest sofa maunfacturing plant in Eastern Europe). However, the city is one of the most economically evolved cities in the western region.

Socially speaking, the town has 3 universities a variety of schools, approximately 15000 of youngsters which fit the association’s target group. The organization aims to mobilise as much as we can of them and to motivate them to be socially active.

Inspite of the vast number, there is a poor social activity among the youngsters, especially when it comes to volunteering.
The EVS volunteers serve that purpose of giving them a live example, encouraging the youngsters to follow their path of taking actions towards volunteering activities.
Therefore, the EVS volunteers will have an active role in mobilising and motivating the local youngsters during leisure activities.

Besides the cultural learning opportunities, the volunteers will have the opportunity to learn how to organise and implement activities. They will learn to work together with youngsters of different nationalities, learn their habbits, cultural differences and they will be able to compare them with their own. The volunteers will have the opportunity to learn other languages and social skills in order to integrate in the local community (their learning process will be facilitated by the mentors). During the games and activities they will learn to work with groups of youngsters, making them more aware of the importance of team-work and leadership. Living in a flat with other volunteers they will improve their coping skills and self-catering.

The role of the volunteers will be to serve as a unique volunteer, in the meaning of being different from the local volunteers, a fugleman for the (future)volunteers. We want to “exploit” this feature to combate the passivity and motivate the youngsters to be actively involved in outdoor and social activities. This way the youngsters will spend less time in front of their PC, TV, laptops, etc. and they will spend more time playing social games, learning dances, helping the local volunteers in their community work.

Perfil: - age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: Activities in which the volunteers will be involved are leisure type activities. We want to implement two types of activities, on one hand general youth leisure activities such as games like activity, football, table tenis, recreational activities for youngsters (origami clubs, trips), on the other hand specific activities which are skill based (on the skills of the volunteers). For example, if the volunteer knows a specific game, he or she will have a class once a week to teach that to the locals.

The supports activities with a positive impact on the local youngsters, especially the outdoor activities.
Participating in information and prevention campaigns the volunteers will speak in front of high-school classes and in universities, sharing cultural and personal experience. They will also participate in awareness raising campaigns against drug consumption.
