Resumo: • The target group for our activities is the local families and children/youth
• Through our yearly week-end event in the comunity we have become interested in the area and it’s needs and challenges
• The town is an area that is characterised with high unemployment, high alcohol consuming rate, low voting rate, 20% immigrant residents
• the people living in the area, however, have a high sense of community and even the children are moving back to the area when they grow up
• The town has some activity organised by the citizens attended mainly by the elderly residents, the local Lutheran Church works among families and children, also one asociation for single parents have a club
• Despite all these efforts there are social problems in the area that need a positive counter action
• We have attended the networking meetings among the local city/council workers for three years, getting to know the local workers. We are also member of the local Association, and can use their premises for our activities
• Since April 2009 we have had our own small office/small group meeting place in the area
• From August 2011 we have had two apartments where at the moment 5 people live in the area.The community wants to serve the local residents with their giftings.Winter 2011-2012 they helped the youth club and the library in their youth work, also they offered one course in arts to the local school pupils after school hours.

Perfil: • A volunteer would need to have a open mind to people from different backgrounds, willingness to share his or her own ideas and experiences, readiness to work in different places
• We wish, however, to work within our established network
• Recruitment process is done throug new e-mail contacts and through previous contacts we have to Europe
age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas:
• There are opportunities to work with the Youth Club, local schools, local churches, also to start something new together with our network
• EVS volunteer would be part of the Silmu-network so he would attend the weekly meeting as well as any other event the team is in, including the yearly youth event GearUp!
• He/she could participate in daily running of the local City-owned Youth Club, attend to the English classes in schools according to the teachers’ need, help in the local library.
• In our organisation he/she could help developing our youth work with his ideas and perspective, but also assist in the daily chores and participate in the team meetings.He/she could together with the organization team start running a small study group for the local youth and/or children
