Resumo: Our headquarter is in north of Romania, in a historic town created in 1329. Has around of 150.000 inhabitans and is the capital of Maramures County, a space famous for its tradition, culture, folklore, wooden churches and Merry Cemetery. In the town lives romanians, hungarians, germans, ucrainians, jews, rromas – very diverse but with a very good sense of belonging all together to the city.
The project environment for the suggested voluntary activities is actually very friendly. Regarding the social aspect of things, the local Romanian community is very respectful towards tradition and culture, however it is very open-minded and extremely generous towards foreigners, which are kindly greeted with food, drinks and hospitality. The geography presents no danger what so ever, as it is a safe environment in which people have been living for hundreds of years now.
Although it is a live-in community, there are no specific rules or conditions attached, as the organization is in permanent touch and friendship with the local authorities which would be happy to provide a secure environment, attention and protection for as long as the volunteers are here. The volunteers should mostly behave as he/she would in his/her own country/environment: mind his manners, respect towards old people, respect environment etc.
The people from the organization is also very diverse, respecting somehow the multiculturality of the town: romanians, hungarians, and the volunteers have different backgrounds: economic problems some of them have only one parent, some of them come from the roma community.
Our organisation is one of the largest and oldest youth organisations in the world, having covered a lot of important events and activities over time. For instance the organization has a department called Ten Sing, this is a very important activity based on creativity, arts and culture; this kind of activity is spread worldwide and it promotes young talents and artists that do not have other opportunities of affirming, in huge festivals, projects or contests. It also gives the youngsters the chance to build a professional carrier out of this, as we have a great relationship with the media in all countries and also with some important actors.
Another important aspect is the focus we have on sports and outdoor activities, which we believe, help kids and teenagers grow up healthy and well educated. As our symbol is the triangle built out of “Body, mind and spirit”, we guide our volunteers into taking care of all these elements of their lives. And because sport and arts are not enough to build a role-model citizen, we created a chain of long-term personal development trainings which help participants bring more quality and success in their lives.
The personal culture of the organisation is impressive mostly because we have basketball courses, dance courses, trainings, programmes for disadvantaged children or artistic departments. We also have media department in which youngsteers can learn how to use media as a toll for youth work.
All these activities are very open and available for the volunteers that we will host, and hopefully the impact will be at least as big it was for our volunteers.

Our working style, methods and procedures can be an excellent opportunity for a young person want to do his/her EVS in Romania, because we create a playground and he/she can use it in creating, developing, improving , learning, so on.

Our staff, members, board members, volunteers and supporters have a lot of international experience because we believe that investing in human resources is the only way to reach performance, to have success and be relevant in communities. So we already did a lot of exchanges, international trainings abroad, we are used with multicultural environment so having our EVS volunteers here it is just a plus, an added value to our family.
We do not expect that our EVS volunteers to have necessarily experience in volunteering, the only things we ask from them is to have at least basic level of English and computer skills, to be creative, open minded, and willing to communicate, share, team-up.
• what will be the role of EVS volunteers in the Host Organisation,
The volunteers will be treated exactly like our volunteers and the main idea is to evaluate them in the beginning and see exactly what are their abilities and talents, and try to focus on giving them tasks that will help improve the skills they already have. Of course, another important aspect would be to help them discover new skills and learn new things, and if they wish for this we can always provide something new and interesting for them.
Also as foreign volunteers their input towars us could be big, as we wish for them to share their experience with our volunteers and teach them new working methods and skills.
We treat the EVSers like the other volunteers, no differences, same respect, same care and guidance. They can get involve in one or all our projects and programms , can develop and implement new ideas, can share experience, working methods, in order to develop themselves in every way possible. The organization Romania works as national movement and the volunteers have the possibility to travel to other cities to know young people from the local Y and see some local projects , in this way they not only will discover the country and people but they will gain new insights, new understandings .
We provide Romanian language classes-weekly, mentorships-weekly, the organization structure, and the Y Romania structure in particulary, introduce to our Board members, partners, prepare them for a new home.

The accomodation period can be extended till 1 month, after that the activities from the project will begin with them actively involve. We also give them space to create their own activities, having in mind their abilities, skills, knowledge, passion, motivation.

Perfil: We are looking for open-minded persons who have the courage enough to come to Romania and experience all the challenges that might appear. We don`t require for a lot of experience or special skills, just openess and willingness to learn and work. We will not ask them to do anything illegal, imoral or against their personal beliefs, all we ask them is to trust us and trust that our main focus is their personal development.
We welcome people with different backgrounds and different personal cultures and we expect to learn from them and to make them feel “home” for as long as they are staying here.

Tarefas: • the activities in which the volunteers could be involved and the activities the volunteers could create in your organisation. Please give examples of typical activities/tasks for the volunteers.

The activities in which they could involve can vary a lot from one project to another, and thus our intention is show them during the first month everything we have available and allow them to choose whatever activity they find most suitable for them. Also this is according to the agreement signed in which the tasks are very clear but on the site can be developed also others.

For the beginning the easiest thing they could do is to work within our projects and check different
activities in order to choose the one that is most interesting for tem. They can give the courses we have, like dance, English, art, music or drama, arts &crafts, afterschool programs, social inclusion program, happy kindergarden program and also that work that we do in hospital. Also they can help
in counseling, training and coordinating our volunteers. For example, they could work give english or other language classes for elderly people or children; also they can work in the media field making short youth movies, preapre the online magazine, organising youth events from conferences to festival or short movies and shows production.

They can help in organising national and international trainings in the town or do environmental projects in the surrounded area.
