Resumo: The hosting organization is situated near the Polish-German border, the proximity of major traffic arteries and the surrounding nature are great assets of the town.

The town has a very favourable geographical location. The city is situated in the very centre of Europe. The town has a population of about 120,000. The town is the educational
centre of the region and an academic town. In The University there are over 21,000 students. The city has a status of a
Municipal District and is a self-government capital. There are many institutions and organizations in the town which organize various festivals, concerts and declamation evenings. The theatre, dance and vocal groups of the organization exhibit tremendous energy. Jazz scene thrives in the clubs and pubs of the town. A very special climate of
our city is created, among others, by the restaurants and pubs situated mainly on the ground-floors and in the cellars of the
tenement houses along the promenade. In summer the restaurateurs and pub owners have outdoor gardens open till late at
night. In the evenings the city is vibrant with life - owing to a multitude of inhabitants and tourists filling the promenade. In
the vicinity of the university campus there are many student clubs where the students’ nightlife goes on. It is here that the
phenomenon of the Cabaret Region originated. A restaurant situated on the top of the
Wine Hill that is unique even on the European scale, one can enjoy a wide culinary offer, have a cup of coffee or just have a
good time. And all this among the tropical vegetation. The magic of the place is further enhanced by aquaria with exotic fish
and turtles.

Longterm Voluntary Service:
The project will take place in the Baptist Chruch building. The church is located in the centre of the town. The project will be
carried out in various places in town: Church building, participants’ places.

Voluntary work starts at 2:00pm and lasts untill 8:00pm /depending on the action/. The volunteers will obey the rules that prevail
in the church - no smoking, use of drugs/ alcohol, respect for Christian values.

Our team is very open and flexible to the mutual needs and expectations. The church cooperates with the Protestant churches
– Pentecostal Church, Church of God in Christ, Lutheran Church. Together, we organize various events for the
local community.

Volunteers will be provided with good accommodation. Thy will live in a rented room / lodgings / or together in a rented furnished
apartment (equipped with all the furniture needed for independent living).
Short-term Voluntary Service:
Summer camps for children and youth:
Summer play centres/ Day-camps take place at the church and school grounds. Out of town camps and charity
camps - various places of the country in a boarding house which meets all the requirements to organize a summer camp in
complience with the law.

Perfil: A volunteer should:
- be open to cooperation and willing to act
- agree to participate in activities throughout the duration of the contract and the training prepared for volunteers
- have sufficient motivation to work with children aged 6-13
The recruitment process - A volunteer should send a cover letter and resume
- age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: The coordinator of the project will cooperate with the volunteers during their stay, which will let them learn how to plan and
prepare workshops and work in a group of leaders. During the camps the volunteers will cooperate with the workshop leaders
which will let them gain new experience in work with children, youth, and elderly people.

A volunteer will have a chance to participate in charity actions, be active in the lives of the children and youth as an ‴elder
brother/sister‴.
Volunteers will be taught how to write a blog, describe their work in a bulletin, will have a chance to record a radio broadcast,
use various ways of self-advertisement.

Volunteers will have a chance to experience and learn how to work in a team – plan activities and special events.
Depending on the length of the work, the volunteers will take part in meetings which will allow to assess the work and plan
all actions in details; tasks to be done in the future. During the evaluation all kind of motivational methods will be used:
(brainstorming, planning, discus, cycling etc.)
A volunteer will be provided with a series of trainings for volunteers managed by the National Agency.

Also, language training will be provided; the schedule will be set with a volunteer in advance.
All activities and actions will be assessed thorough-out the project in such a way so that both volunteers and participants could
benefit from it. What is more, at the end of the project a final evaluation will be made.

Volunteer will be able to choose from:

A) Charity work
- Charitable Service – Assistance in distributing food to people in need, collection and giving out clothes, help in organizing
charity events for children such as Children’s Day or Samaritan’s Purse. Help at the organizational level. Planning and
realization of the program at events e.g. running games and activities for children.

B) Media and Administration
- Broadcasts on Radio - volunteers will learn how to prepare an interview, a 10-minute broadcast.
- Newsletter – getting involved in ‴editing‴ of a monthly magazine. Assistance in the preparation, writing articles and giving an
account of your voluntary service in the newsletter.
- Website - writing a ‴blog‴ of the project – in the ‴blog‴ a volunteer will give his/her account of the experiences of the voluntary
work. The blog for volunteers will be set up at the beginning of the project.
- Administrative Service - assistance in utility works of the church together with the youth from the church.

C) Conferences (4 during entire year)
- Cooperation in organizing a conference - Christian Music Review, Days of the Bible, a conference for families, youth, other
thematic conferences. Assistance in planning and organizing at both levels the logistics and factual knowledge.


D) Small groups meetings
- Participation in thematic and discussion meetings, preparation and holding a discussion about problems.
- Music service - if a volunteer has appropriate skills - involvement in a church music group, which means a volunteer must
attend rehearsals, music group meetings, and performances at church.
- Picnic - participation in different activities at weekends / some kind of meetings for men, women, families, i.e. bicycle rides or
walking trips, breakfast, dinners, etc..

E) Children and Youth ministry
- ‴ICE‴ for youth & ‴ICE-kids‴ - work in a group preparing meetings of the club, both ICE youth and ICE-kids - together with the
team responsible for the actions of the club the main responsibilities are: planningmeetings, program, workshops, discussions,
at the final stage of the project - being a leader of the group which prepares the meetings.
- Participation in the preparation of youth exchange projects with groups from Europe. Volunteers will learn the basic principles
of the Youth in Action programme and acquire the necessary knowledge to prepare a youth exchange application.
- (FDC) Film Discussion Club - participation in a film club for young people, support and running the club.
- Gym - participation in sport activities in a gymnasium. Classes hold for teens and children and young people involved in the
project. Preparation of classes. Fun & Games. Sport’s games.
- ‴Elder brother - sister‴ - a program hold mainly for the children from foster families. Visiting the children registered for the
project and getting involved in a child’s life by helping with their homework / if possible / Going out together to the cinema,
theater, museum.
- Day-care Room - to help organize afternoon classes in a day-care center - running various workshops.

F/ Summer or Winter Camps for children and youth
- out-of-town camps and so-called ″summer play centres‴.
- Volunteers will run workshops in various fields for participants of different age groups. Workshops will be prepared together
with volunteers using their talents and capabilities. Activities will be based on cooperation with the leader running the class.
The list of workshops that may be at camp is open and depends on the kind of the workshop leaders we get for the camp. It
can be a drama workshop or music, singing, language workshop /English, German or the native language of the volunteers/.
- Writing a blog - volunteers will have a chance to learn how to write a blog, and then they will be able to pass their knowledge
on to children and youth.
- Preparation of special days at camp - days with selected topics such as ″a military day, Hawaiian day, Harry Potter’s day,
ancient day.‴
Examples of typical tasks:
- Preparation of a plan for the camp in the leaders’ team, setting the work plan.
- Preparation of materials for the workshops.
- Help with a workshop, and running workshops at the camp.
- Preparation of the games, some fun to stimulate children and youth.
- Running a workshop on your own or with the leader.
- Help in preparing a festivity for the local community as for day camps. Running all arranged activities at the festivity /games,
sports, performances, etc./

G/. Summer charity ‴work camps‴
- participation in camps where young people from church work for the local community - for example: painting, cleaning,
charitable activities, various forms of help for the needy.
