Resumo: The hosting organization is based in one of the biggest city in Georgia (approximately 116 000 residents) located just 25 km from the capital city , 25 km from Azerbaijan border, 72 km from Armenia.

The town was a major industrial centre during the Soviet period - the development of the town was part of Stalin's accelerated industrialization process and the town in nowadays still is rich with huge Soviet time heritage. But unfortunately youth life - and generally youth inclusion and development -has lack of opportunities. There are just 2-3 youth organisations in the town activities of which are focused on youth. Also economical and social situation in the city is not good and a big lack of non-formal education and educative programs of international standards exists.

Local community, life of young people in it
No matter that the town is one of the biggest city of Georgia and not far from the capital city Tbilisi, local community is cosy and life runs calm. People are very hospitable and open-minded. In the city there are a lot of restaurants, cafeterias, theatres and beautiful, wild parks. But unfortunately a lot of youth-related problems exist here. There is a lack of youth educational and entertainment centres in the town, which could make it possible for local youngsters to have an additional source for gaining informal and non-formal education. Only a very limited number of young people are socially active due to their involvement in the projects and programmes initiated by the local nongovernmental youth organizations. But youngsters want to be creative and they are searching for self-realization opportunities.

Target group - with which EVS volunteers would work in the organization mainly works with 12-25-year-old young people who are regularly visiting the organization office and Youth Centres. Almost every Georgian youngster can communicate with foreigners at least in basic English. They also know Russian language. All organization staff members fluently speak in English and Russian. If there are situations when a person with whom an EVS volunteer communicates doesn't know any foreigner language, someone from the organization staff or volunteer's mentor can help him/her to fix this problem by translating their conversation.

Working conditions
In the office of the organization wireless internet will be provided to the volunteers. Also we have computers in our office and volunteers will be provided with their own work places and all necessary tools for working - starting with stationery, a computer, a desk, etc. Of course, for more comfortable use, we can advise to bring your own laptop.

Living conditions of EVS volunteers
Long-term volunteers will share with the other EVS volunteers a flat situated in a housing estate - about 5 minutes walking distance from the town centre, 1 minute - from the organization office. Each volunteer will have his/her own private bedroom. EVS volunteers will be given money to buy their own food. There is a kitchen in the volunteers' flat where they can prepare meals. Shops and restaurants are close-by (a 2-5-minute walk).

A group of short-term volunteers will share a big house or a flat located in an old part of the town, 5-15 min walk from the organization office. They will be given money to buy their own food. In a living area there will be a kitchen where they can prepare meals and also a living room.

Language support and other kind of support
Upon arrival, the volunteer will receive an intensive Georgian language training for 1 month. Afterwards, he/she will have Georgian lessons 2 times a week (4 hours a week) for 2 months in the organisation together with the other EVS volunteers. Already on the first day we will provide the volunteer with a SIM card with Georgian phone number. So that he/she could contact family, friends and tell that he/she has arrived safe. We will provide the volunteer once per month with the "day off" team building activities (picnic, excursion, hiking) together with the organization staff and local volunteers, also with basic volunteering training and computer courses - how to use programs which volunteers will be using during their service time, etc.

Cooking club together with other EVS volunteers and organization staff, local volunteers. Once a week we are organizing a common cooking of Georgian and volunteers' home countries traditional food and we eat it in the organization office. Volunteer will be introduced to local Georgian volunteers in the first week of his/her stay in the town and he/she will be accompanied during two first months of the stay by local volunteers in their free time so volunteers would know the places to go out. We believe this is very important for the integration of the volunteer in the active city life and gaining new friends.

Perfil: For hosting:
Organisation has no fixed profile of candidates to be our EVS volunteers, we are just looking for young people who would be motivated and interested in volunteering in Georgia. The organization doesn't't have any guidelines for gender and age.

No special skills are required, our main criterion is applicant's motivation and reasons why he or she would like to participate in the project activities and volunteer in Georgia. Preference will be given to volunteers who are really willing to work with children and youth, organize their activities.

Vacant EVS placements will be advertised on our website, and details forwarded to the young people on our mailing list who have expressed an interest in volunteering in our organisation. Also we will send this information to our former, current EVS cooperation partners, to every National Agency with request to forward this Open Call further to their active EVS Sending/Coordinating organisations in a wish to create new cooperation networking.

Recruitment of volunteers to be sent for EVS:
The organization is in charge of the preparation and support of the candidate/EVS volunteer before,
during and after the EVS activities. The organization is regularly doing EVS and "Youth in Action" presentations in educational institutions (schools, universities, non-formal youth centres) of the town and Kvemo Kartly. Also youth can find out information about current EVS opportunities and application procedure on the web.

The organization is open in principle to all young people who are legal residents in Georgia from all social backgrounds, between 18 and 30 and who would like to volunteer abroad through EVS. At least basic English knowledge is required for Host projects in English speaking countries. With the support of the organization, candidate/EVS volunteer will find out which theme would be good for an EVS project for him/her, which place, when it would be good to start a project, and how long the activity can last.

When wishing to gain more intercultural competencies, during the time that a candidate is looking for a project, the organization also can give him/her a chance to participate in international group exchanges or other international projects. Also if a candidate never had local, national or international volunteering experience, but has a wish to gain also these competences, the organization can help him/her to find the way how to develop them.
