Resumo: The hosting organization is now well established as a valuable support / activities organisation for the migrant worker community. We are part of the professional sector that works with and supports multiculturalism, immigration and integration, with strong links to statutory bodies and other support structures.

The local community is friendly and inviting. The local has a growing comunnity of diverse cultural communities. The city is vibrant and offers an intersting historical herritage as well as embracing modern cultural trends.
The projects will take place in the city, our main base.

What we can offer the EVS volunteers:
• The chance to work and learn in a thriving multicultural organisation. We provide a wide range of activities and services (see below), so we have a lot of varied opportunities to offer.
• The chance to run their own projects, based on personal interests or skills, or on the willingness to learn something new.
• The chance to be a valued co-worker in a volunteer-based organisation, where living in a foreign country, with all the challenges of different language and culture, is the rule and not the exception.
• the organization offers a natural inter-cultural learning environment due to its multi cultural staff and volunteer base. We have a strong focus on Anti-drsriminatory approaches as well as Ant Opressive Practice in our work.

Volunteers can learn many practical skills such as administrative and networking skills, whilst learning or improving their IT skills.

Perfil: - age: 18 until 30 years old
- able to work with the issue of marginalisation & various forms of discrimination
- abel to work with young people from less-privileged backgrounds such as migrants
- English language ability

Tarefas: • Information activities. We write, translate, design and publish a wide range of printed and on-line material, in a range of languages. The volunteers will be very welcome to join this challenging work.

• Integration programme. Help with the preparation and running of our own community events, to bring together migrants and the native community. Examples are fun days, film evenings, meetings, or other events

• Volunteers are involved in the organization’s Family Support Service and will work in conjunction with staff concerning organization’s general services offered to migrant people.

• Youth Club
-Organising childrens' activities, games, local visits. Activity will be organised around particular subjects ( for example, national sport, games). Activities will be designed to help young people to understand cultural diversity and their new environment ( British culture).
-Organisation of educational workshops with themes to help children and young people to integrate into local community

• Marketing and promotion of the organization as the Youth in Action promoter as well as promotion projects organised by other promoters.

Activity of the EVS volunteer: marketing activity ( presentations in colleges, Uni and other youth organisations)
Designing publicity for different activity including promotion of volunteering.
Production of newsletter and its online version, preparation material for web sites that include material about other EU countries, and cultures.

• Attendance at external events. We participate in several relevant networks and regularly attend meetings, conferences, festivals and other social activities. The EVS volunteeers will be asked to join our locally-based volunteers and staff for these.

• Support for our advice and guidance work. EVS volunteers will never be asked to run the advice & guidance sessions, but there is a lot of support work needed: catering, decorating the meeting spaces, helping with session bookings, etc

• Social activities. These vary depending on the interests and priorities of the local volunteers, from art classes to football tournaments, visits to ancient monuments to shopping days in other towns.

Condições: Accommodation:
The accommodation provided is in walking distance from the office. Volunteers will be provided with a flat shared with another European volunteers. Each of them will have a single room and the possibility to use the common spaces (kitchen, living room, etc).
