Resumo: The project is situated in a village with 60.000 inhabitants by the river.

Many restored historical buildings belong to the city and also a medieval urban core.

Leisure possibilities:
- visiting the many lhistorical buildings
- good opportunities for trips to Poland and the Czech Republic by train and bus, good train connections to Löbau, Zittau, Bautzen, Dresden and Berlin,
-Swimming pool, many sports centres, cinema, disco, youth clubs
- in the youth house you can find a climbing wall and a small sports area. There take place workshops and cultural events. Our youth café opens five days per week and often at the weekends.

Perfil: The volunteer should be equipped with a high level of sensibility, patience and sense of responsibility to deal with socially disadvantaged youngsters. Empathy and truly interest in the adolescents are helpful. For the workshops it would be assistant to be good with one’s hands.
We expect:
- ability to work in a team
- friendliness, independence,
- open-minded for Christian values
- basic knowledge of German is an advantage
- age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: The volunteer is accompanied by a multi-professional staff team. To these belong social worker, occupational therapists, manufacturers, teachers and trainees. The volunteer gets to know the educational work, supports the practical work of the young people in the several workshops( pottery,wood, garden, domestic economy). He becomes acquainted with the living situation of socially disadvantaged German youngsters during their work in the EVS project.He attends educational days and excursions with cultural, political and scientific contends. The volunteer is also concered in intercultural trainings (for instance in meetings with foreign youth groups or referents). The volunteer can plan his own project in one of the workshops and implement this (e.g. to cultivate a species of vegetable and to cook in the kitchen)

Activities:
- Support and guidance for young people in the workshops, for example, in the garden project
- Participation in the monthly training days for youths
- Personal support for the adolescents with learning difficulties in mathematics and English
- Participation of intercultural meetings and projects.
