Resumo: The hosting organization is located in a small city in the south of Sweden. With a municipality of 80.000 inhabitants, the town is a combination of green and natural surroundings with an entrepreneurial environment and an international university campus. In the town you can balance an urban life with a nature environment. You can go to the concerts, museums, restaurants and bars, shopping and do sports and also have the opportunity to enjoy the nature and landscape that the region offers, such as forests with long paths, wild animals and flora and to do outdoor activities like horse-riding, canoeing, trekking, etc.
The town is very well situated for those who want to visit other cities and places. There are good and fast connections
Accommodation
The volunteers live in the residence in high school, and in a small village with 650 inhabitants. In this residence the volunteers have a single or a double room and share a kitchen and a bathroom with other students and other EVS volunteers.
In the school there is a gym, a sports hall, computer rooms, a library and different ateliers/studios where the volunteers can spend part of their free time. The school is surrounded by a beautiful nature where the volunteers can go for a walk, canoeing or bird watch for example. The volunteers will also have mentors who are also responsible for planning leisure activities with the volunteers.
Food and meals
The volunteers eat breakfast (Monday-Friday) and dinner (Monday-Thursday) in the refectory of the High school. The volunteers prepare the rest of the meals (lunch on weekdays and meals for the weekend) by themselves in the kitchen of the residence.
Transport and communication
Connections are made by bus, as well as the connection between the campus and the town .
All the rooms in the residence have internet connection.

- is interested to develop own initiatives and activities.
- want to take part in our different activities and share their knowledge on different matters.
- is interested in learning to hold workshops and other activities.
- likes the idea of plan and develop activities in the center.

The recruitment process will be done together with the coordinating organization (Nätverket SIP-Projektor) and will have the following phases:

- choose volunteers and contact their sending organizations. We will also contact the other candidates and their sending organizations, something we always do to explain the reason why we chose a particular volunteer.
age: 18 until 30 years old
Tarefas: What can you offer the volunteers in terms of Service and learning opportunities?
The volunteers in our organization will gain social and civic competences by working with and for people with different opportunities and from different social backgrounds, and in a workday they will meet many persons with whom they can interact and improve their Swedish. This will provide them with opportunities to learn about the inclusion of people with fewer opportunities and about Swedish model of working with unemployment and disabled people. Since the tasks will depend on the volunteers interests they can chose to engage in their own learning, deepening the knowledge they have in a certain activity or take on new ones, and at the same time learn how to share their interest and knowledge to other people.
The volunteers will have the chance - both at work and in their residence - to practice their Swedish to complement the Swedish lessons the volunteers will receive at the coordinating organization Nätverket SIP in the town together with other EVS volunteers in the city at least 2 hours/week, with additional homework.
By meeting and working with many different people the volunteers will develop their communication skills as well as learn how to cooperate with other people and to establish a social network. We offer opportunities to learning by doing, and we will encourage the volunteers to initiate and develop their own ideas into activities and project that they can prepare for and implement within our workshops and projects.
Our organization is very flexible and open for the volunteers own interests and knowledge, and we have plenty of support from the supervisor and different team leaders.
What will the role be for the EVS volunteers in the Host Organisation?
The volunteers will take part in the activities as a team member, supporting the team leaders and participate in planning and implementing new activities. They will be encouraged to develop their own project and to create activities for the target group. The supervisor will have regularly meetings with the volunteers, ensuring that they have meaningful tasks. The volunteers will not replace any staff or have the same responsibility the staff has, and in the beginning we will offer lots of support for the volunteers in organizing and developing the activities. The volunteers will act as an extra resource in supporting the staff with ideas and inspiration as well as supporting the target group in their work and to try new things.
Please give examples of typical activities/tasks for the volunteers:
- Help out in our main activities like walking dogs, help produce small handicrafts to sell in our shop and attend weekly meetings.
- Take an active part in discussions about strategies, programs and plans for the organizations' activities.
- Help develop the organization with their knowledge and experience.
- Cultural events such as cooking, dancing etc.
- Update our social media, blogs or on Facebook.
- Spread information about upcoming events online and with information material.
- Create new information material.
The weekly schedule will be discussed in the beginning of each week, since the activities in the different projects are changing and flexible depending on the people taking parts in the activities, the volunteers' interest in different projects, season etc. The volunteers will take part in one of our Example of a typical week in the spring in our handicraft shop and café:
Monday: In the morning participate in a meeting with staff and looking at that weekly schedule and then help prepare sandwiches for the café. In the afternoon work together with the team in making napkins with a print for a customer.
Tuesday: In the morning take part in one of the workshops and learn how to do some handicrafts of the volunteer’s choice. In the afternoon plan their own project.
Wednesday: In the morning participate in Swedish lesson at the coordinating organization. In the afternoon the volunteer will prepare to share an interest of his/her own and update our social media/home page.
Thursday: In the morning, realize an activity (this can be any activity within the interest and knowledge of the volunteer, such as writing, dancing, cooking, first aid, sport etc). In the afternoon take photos for documentation of our activities and prepare them for homepage or newsletter.
Friday: Be in the shop/cafe attending to customers in the morning together with the team. In the afternoon have weekly fika (Swedish coffee and cookie) at the cottage, help planting some herbs.
These activities are just an example, lots of others are possible within the different projects.
