Resumo: In our community we do not base our activities in one certain religious or philosophical approach. There are no specific rules that concers nightly curfews etc. This is an open organisation for visitors, families and friends of volunteers are always welcome to visit us either longer or shorter period of time.

The Village situates in South Estonia, in the territory at the Rural Municipality centered. The nearest villages are 2 km from us, the nearest town is 12 km from us. The town, noisy student town with lots of Estonian and foreign students and the second biggest in Estonia with 100 000 inhabitants lies 50 km from us.

Bus connection is quite good.

The social environment of our local community a rural municipality is quite well established. There are active village societys in our nearby villages and during our EVS experience we have created some projects together.

Our main goal is to develop the skills necessary for as normal life as possible among our inhabitants with learning disability. EVS volunteer have own room in the house where no people with learning disability live. Besides the pocket money, volunteer will get refund in telephone bills and costs for local transportation. Language course will be held, year-round, 1-2 times a week. There is budget for volunteers initiative project, theme and purpose will be decided by volunteer, there is also administrative cost refund per 12 month for volunteer to use. While at the village, the price of the daily meals is 3,20€ total (period 2012 – 2014). As the food expencies per day is 5€ during the whole project, volunteer saves 1,80€ food funds each day while at the village and can use them whereever.

EVS for people with learning disability
We offer oppurtunity for young people with learning disability from all over the Europe to attend as short time EVS volunteer of differents activities in the foundation . It’s a possibility to receive an unique experience in voluntary work in our community, to create contacts and friendship. Same time this experience can increase the possibilities for disabled youth to attend in job market while back in homeland.

Perfil: The perfect profile of our volunteer candidate is not certain. It does not matter if the candidate has any current contacts with people with learning disability. The most important thing is volunteers motivation and willingness to share his or her life in the foundation for long period of time. There is no issue about the gender, religious, sexual or social background.

As we are already experienced hosting organisation, we have certain sending organisations with the history of successful co-operation experience. About half a year beforehand we inform our partners about the future vacancies. This gives to future volunteers and both sending and hosting organisation enough time to prepare for the project. We also inform about vacant EVS placement ongoingly in database of the programme.

age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: During the project next knowledge, competencies and skills might be acquired:
- Communication in foreign languages - 1 year long language course will be provided;
- Learning to learn – adaptability and coping in different situations may develop the skill of learning to learn;
- Cultural awareness and expression – experiencing foreign culture may increase the cultural awareness to this culture, but also might broaden the perspective towards volunteers own cultural background. Discussions about volunteers own cultural background may increase the capability of expression;
- Social and civic competence – being active member of local community may increase social and civic competencies of participant;
- Sense of initiative and enterpreneurship – every volunteer is granted up to 300-400 euros project funds for possibility to run their very own project with the inhabitants the foudation or in local community. Assistants will be provided for such kind of project by mentor and EVS contact person;
- Digital competence – communication with friends and family via computer and internet;
- Mathematical competence and basic competences in science and technology – every month volunteers work out their expendures and keep the receipts for refund from project funds (cheques for food, transportation, telephone bills, maintenance, own project etc).
Trainings will help volunteers to understand better our young people. The topics of our trainings include:
- Autism, Down Syndrome other Syndromes;
- Human Rights;
- Behavioural disorders;
- How to avoid burn-out?
- Communication;
- History of communities, philosophy, cultural background.
Volunteer will be assisting people with learning disability during their daily works and studies, but also during their free time. There are differents roles and tasks that volunteer could act in such as:
- Assisting in workshops. There are workshops of gardening, fluorist, pottery, handicraft and woodwork. Volunteer is offered oppurtunity to develop his or her skills in mentioned areas same time as assisting our inhabitants or pupils during their everyday works or studies there. Worktime is from 09.00 in the morning until 16.30 in the afternoon.
- Assisting during vocational trainings. Its possible to assist teachers and special pedagogues during their everyday work with pupils with intellectual disability. Worktime is from 09.00 in the morning until 16.30 in the afternoon.
- Assisting in home-life. Living houses are the heart of our community. Volunteers have possibility to become a member of house family with equal rights and limited responsibilities compare to community other members. Volunteer will be not asked to stay in the house as the only member of the stuff. This could happen only at the end of the project and when volunteer asks for it.
- Assisting in student home. Student home situates 4 kilometres from the village in a hostel meant for youth camps. There are 22 pupils who live there with 3 workers from Monday to Thursday morning. Volunteers tasks are to assist pupils with everyday routine after the schooltime, to organise activities and to prepare pupils for studies in
Preferably we expect volunteers for 12 month service periods. Active service in student home and vocational-training will take place from the end of August till midsummer day, after that the service continues in houses or workshops.
