Resumo: Working at the House of Europe in the citycenter, the volunteer will collaborate with European associations, schools, youth centers and all the individuals and organizations working with the House of Europe.

This city is one of the largest cities in France. 40 minutes only are needed to go to the seaside by car. The city is particularly active when it comes to culture, civil organizations and European initiatives. It is a very pleasant city to live in. As the House of Europe is active, the volunteer will collaborate with organizations situated in this area.

The volunteer will be integrated into a team of 4 persons, consisting of a coordinator, two project officers, an assistant accountant and occasionally one or two trainees, under the overall direction of the Board of Directors.

The volunteer will also take part in a project with several European volunteers of the department in another organization, coordinated within the framework of the "Unity in Diversity " project, and led by the Regional Youth Information Center. This project will strengthen the monitoring of the volunteer’s project and his integration into the city.

A contact is also established with the organization "Autour du Monde / Around the World", which aims at welcoming international students of the University and facilitating their integration into the city. The volunteer will be able to take part in actions and trips organized by”Autour du Monde” together with students from all over the world.

Perfil: The volunteer should have basic knowledge on the European Union, and be interested in issues related to European citizenship.

As the House of Europe is working with many partners, a particular attention will be paid on profiles indicating good interpersonal skills, especially with young people.

We do want the volunteer to take part in many activities of the House of Europe, which requires motivation to work in team.
Part of the mission can be adapted according to the volunteer’s wishes and suggestions : a capacity for openmindedness, dynamism and entrepreneurial spirit will therefore be appreciated.
Special skills in mutimedia tools (web, video, ..) would also be appreciated.

The selection procedure for the EVS project will not be carried out on the basis of specific required skills . All resumes and cover letters will be considered with equal attention. The volunteer’s motivation to get involved on both the individual project and the group project is also important.

As a resource center on European initiatives, the House of Europe brings together all kinds of projects and initiatives on Europe, allowing the organization to extend its network with many rich and varied projects all year long. Depending on his wishes, the volunteer will work together with the European organizations which are active in the field of media, culture, civic involvement and also with institutional partners of the hosting organization.

The volunteer will also have many opportunities to learn French language. Taking part in the daily work in a French environment, and receiving French lessons, the volunteer will develop comprehension and expression skills, and both speaking and writing competences. As the House of Europe is used to being in contact with many Europeans people in this city, the volunteer will also be able to exchange in other languages.

Taking part in the actions initiated all over the year by the House of Europe, the volunteer will have the opportunity to learn on how to communicate and disseminate information on Europe (towards various audiences). He will also be able to strengthen his knowledge on the European Union.
