Resumo: Our volunteers work with people with different mental disabilities. Our main goal is to promote social integration for these people by letting them communicate with youngsters from different countries, with different social backgrounds. There is a wide range of tasks that the future volunteers could take part in in our two living centers - souvenir workshops, dog, aerobics, music and other therapies, helping with the organization of special events like Christmas, Family day, St. Janos day etc., escorting the clients on a day-trips to the zoo or the swimming pool, helping with the day-to-day life in the living centers. The volunteers are welcome to create their own activities and projects and to introduce their home countries. It’s a good opportunity to develop their social skills, interpersonal relationships and to test their own creativity. The volunteers also can work in our organic garden where they can produce fruits and vegetables, or in the stable, where they can tend to different animals (goats, pigs, chickens, rabbits, horses) and make goat cheese.
The volunteers will be accommodated in a fully furnished three-room flat in the center of Miskolc. They will receive a monthly allowance, enough to meet their needs, a monthly ticket for the local transport, Wi-Fi and a company phone. The organization also provides Hungarian language courses that give a good base for further learning.
Miskolc is the third biggest city in Hungary and gives good opportunities for socializing, there is a club for English speakers, that meets once a week, there are young people (from Hungary and abroad) that come to study in the Miskolc University and other volunteers from other organizations. The city hosts several festivals during the year (medieval festival in the castle, opera festival, music festivals, cinema festival and so on) and also provides a good opportunity for cheap travel in the neighboring countries.

Perfil: We are looking for open-minded volunteers who can accommodate easily, who are open to new challenges and who are socially sensitive and helpful. The volunteers should feel empathy towards disabled people and have a skill to cooperate and work with them. Our main aim is to develop our young people, to give useful experience to the volunteers, make intercultural connections between Hungarian youngsters and youngsters coming from different European countries. Not necessary, but it is an advantage, if you have: - Some information/experience with people who have special needs - Little knowledge of Hungarian.

Tarefas: Tasks are carried out basically in two sites of Symbiosis foundation: Habilitation Center (residential and day-care people) that is about 20 minutes travel from the accommodation and in Barathegy Rehabilitation Farm (residential people) that is about 50 minutes travel from the accommodation.
