Resumo: our Place is a famlily farm specialising in organic products. We have cattle, pigs, chickens and harvest cereals, herbs, vegetables and fruits. The products (vegetables, cereals, meat, fruit-juices, herbal teas.) are sold in our own small shop on the farm and on the local weekly market.

Moreover we do a lot of information work to raise the public awareness for organic farming (group visits on the farm, guided tours, talks with clients on the market…) The farm is also meeting place for various groups: We rent a holiday appartement and provide seminar facilities. We also organise day-workshops for children and guided tours around the farm.

A lot of people come to visit the farm for its architecture: It is a very modern building that has won several prices for its ecologically friendly architecture (clay walls, wood floors, wood furniture, solar energy heating).

Perfil: - interested in organic market gardening
- motivated to work in this field

- like to work outside and do manual work.
- age: 18 until 30 years old

Tarefas: 1) Farm Activities:
The volunteer will assist in the care of the animals (cattle, pigs, chicken). She/He will work on the field (vegetable, cereals, hay, berries and herbs) – sowing, weeding, harvesting, storage

2) Food Preservation Activities:
She/He will be assisting in activities of preservation of organic food (making jam, muesli, herbal teas, fruit juices, pickles, etc) and in presenting the products in the small farm-shop.

3) Information Activities in the local community:
the volunteer can help organising information events for the local community such as open-house-days, group visits, promoting certain products in the farm-shop…

4) Volunteer's own project:
The volunteer will have time to develop her/his own project on the farm, for example growing "new" vegetable, traditional food processing methods from the volunteer's country, etc. If needed, she/he will supported by the farm staff.

The volunteer is invited to help in all the activities on the farm following the principle "learning by doing". She/He will most of the time work together with people from the farm and receive informal training on various aspects of organic farming (e.g. food-preservation).

Since raising the awareness of the local community for organic farming is an essential part of our work we are a lot in contact with the people of surrounding villages and the volunteer will thus have several opportunities for intercultural exchange.
