Resumo: The hosting city was founded in 1221 and has
a population of about 1 500 000 people nowadays. This one of the largest city in Russia situated at the intersection of 2 huge rivers. A lot of traditional Russian arts were born here.

In the soviet times the city was a closed city, so people still don’t have many chances to communicate with foreigners. Foreign languages are not very prevailing here, and you have to know Russian a little bit at least to be able to communicate with locals. But people are very friendly to those who re
spect local culture and inhabitants, and ready to communicate
and cooperate with foreigners. In terest of youth to foreign cultu res is growing every day. The town has quite strong relations with Germans, because of the twin city – Essen. There are some cultural centers– Allia
nce Françoise, Japanese center, Swedish center, Czech center etc. So foreigners can find people speaking in thei
r mother tongues there.

Inhabitants in the town lead a measur ed mode of life, their life’s temp is not so intensive like in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. But, in the same time, there is a lot of opportunity for self- realization and emotional life here – extreme s
ports, night clubs, museums, theatres, parks, fitness centers, libraries etc.
Everybody can find a way to be sa tisfied in his interests and
hobbies.

Perfil: We need young, creative, energetic, communicative, open-minded people, who are ready for constant changes and different types of activities. We need kind, patient and responsive people because our project suggests working with special children. We do not have preferences for gender, nationality or religion. Any person, who wants to become a volunteer in our organization, can write us and ask any question about our project. We will carefully study all motivation letters and CVs, and then we will contact a volunteer via Skype to clarify if a person is really motivated and able to work with our children. Only after that we will make our decision. For several years we have cooperated with contact point outside EVS and we would like to continue working with its partners. However we are ready to contact with any Sending organization including new and inexperienced ones.

Tarefas: We can offer a wide range of activities for our volunteers. They will act as social pedagogues, pedagogues of additional education, pedagogues-organizers. They will learn table and outdoor games and play with children, they will accompany children during excursions, festivals and contests, participate in art and theatre workshops and then help to carry out workshopsWe will support volunteer initiative and help him or her realize own ideas. Children from 6 to 18 years are studying at our school, so each volunteer can choose an appropriate age group to work with. Another way of activity is gardening and landscaping. A volunteer can work in a big school garden, offer some ideas on landscape design. Also we always need help in repairing some sport or game equipment, sewing costumes for performances. As there are much work to do in our theatre and our school, a volunteer will have a chance to learn a lot of new things and develop social, creative and intellectual abilities. Accompanying children during excursion, a volunteer will visit historical and cultural monuments of and regions. Professional landscape designers will help volunteers to work in the garden so that they can get some skills in landscape design. And of course our volunteers will have a lot of opportunities to learn the Russian language. Before starting the work, volunteer will be taught practicalities of work with deaf children by our teachers during the first week. S/he will find out the basic pedagogical methods with the help of our teachers and make a draft program of professional development for the period of service together with the coordinator. The employees of our organizations will also be prepared for working with the volunteer before his/her arrival, and discuss basic methods of working with him/her in the future. Throughout the project, volunteer will be encouraged to be initiative and create his/her own mini-project and develop it with our support. Volunteer will have monthly review on working and learning proceedings together with the coordinator to understand better what has been achieved and what should be achieved in the future.

Our organization will always present volunteer with new challenges and ideas, because we are always in the state of development, and volunteer will not get bored. Volunteer will work 5 days a week and s/he is also entitled for 2 additional days per month, which can be collected or used separately.

Horário: Optionally we will consult the volunteer about places to visit in the region and country upon the whole. Example of the weekly work-plan:
Monday: 11:00 – 12:00 meeting with the mentor and pedagogues, discussing weekly work-plan, 12:00 – 13. 30 assisting stage director sewing costumes, 13.30 – 14.00 lunch time; 14:00 – 15:00 table games with children; 15:00 – 16:00 – outdoor games with children.
Tuesday: 11:00 – 13.30 assisting pedagogues in searching photos, pictures, videos for presentation for children, 13.30 – 14.00 lunch time 14:00 – 15:00 table games with children; 15:00 – 16:00 participating in a theatre workshop.
Wednesday: 11:00 – 14:00 accompanying children during visiting a theatre, lunch in a cafe; 14:00 –15:00 discussing a performance with children and pedagogues; 15:00 – 16:00 assisting the director in holding a workshop with children.
Thursday: 11:00 – 13:00 assisting landscape designers in the school garden, 13:00 – 13. 30 assisting pedagogues of additional education in preparing special materials for the art lesson, 13.30 – 14.00 lunch time; 14:00 – 15:00 assisting at the art lesson 15:00 – 16:00. – outdoor games with children.
Friday: 11:00 – 13:00 assisting pedagogues at the art work-shop for children; 13.00 – 13.30 lunch time; 13.30 – 15:00 table games with children; 15:00 – 16:00 meeting with the mentor and pedagogues, summing-up results of the week, discussing progress and problems, planning actions for next week.

Formação: During the stay and working in our organisation a volunteer will:
- Learn the Russian sign language;
- Learn basic pedagogical methods;
- Learn the Russian language;
- Get practical abilities in sewing and design theatre costumes;
- Learn how a theatre performance is being made;
- Develop social, creative and intellectual abilities;
- Visit interesting places;
- Take part in different festivals and actions.
