Resumo: The Young People's Residence is situated in the center of a town of 11,000 iinhabitants. The town is known for its monumental inheritance representing a medieval town, a castle and fort and medieval houses of wood, roman and gothic churches.
It is also a place of new technology experiments of information and communication. Its economy is mainly primary sector (agricultural), metal construction, and services. There are services available from the town. You can find numerous sports and cultural associations, the SNCF (train), post office and different shops.
The Residency is a place of temporary housing, of conviviality, of apprenticeship and independence for young people. The aim is for young people to become independant and become a good citizen in their every day life and social life.
There is capacity for 70 places. The majority of these places are in the town in the main structure in the center of town and two other houses in the area.
For those interested in the SVE, the person will be lodged in town in a studio outside the main house. There will be a possibility to have some kind of transport so they will be able to join the main house (push bike or scooter).
Perfil: Due to the situation of the Residence, it is preferable that the young person has a driving licence. That is one reasons why we ask that all volunteers be 18 years or older.

The recruitment of the volunteer will be via CV accompagned by a reference, this without character discrimination.
Concerning the european organisations, we wish to collaborate with young people aged 18 to 25, socially culturally or socially educationally. It is known to profit the experience and notably the contacts already established in Europe by the other Young People's Residence in the region. Also the exchanges are possible with european partners.
Tarefas: The SVE volunteer will work with the organising team at the Residence and will be their responsibility.
Reception for the volunteer
• Possibility to eat meals at the restaurant within the main building.
• The volunteer will be housed in a studio outside of the main building.
• A linguistic course will be put in place for the needs of the volunteer.
• Specific courses (informative, day courses proposed by the URHAJ...) can be organised within the main building or with other course organisations to help achieve the goals of the volunteer.
Available collective areas
• A work room equiped with computers with internet access.
• A television room equiped with a wide screen television and DVD player.
• A social room (bar, games room) with part of the room available to be used as a show room.
• A meeting room with availibility for holding two meetings simultaneously.
• A kitchen and a dining room.
A reception office which is open to the main road where all questions or requests can be made concerning lodging.
The role of the volunteer within the Young People's Residence:
The young residents wish to find an 'ambiance', a communal place, within the Residence. It is important for us to work together, to recreate a closeness in order to relate to the residents and so encourage activities.
The objective is to allow the young people that we welcome, to meet new people and exchange experiences. The idea is to create a relating place, a place where sociability can be born and exchanges, communication and listening can take place.
General ideas:
• Develop and like (with the organising team) activities within a receptive and communal space (games, music, expositions, organised themed nights or weeks, communal moments, etc).
• Informative, receptive and a listening ear for the residents.
Moving into a space created by events around expositions, themed weeks and nights, to create simple events but also regularly bigger events such as concerts, theatricles...
Tasks:
Develop, prepare and help with putting in place different activities by:
• Researching themes and activities with the organisation team and the residents.
• Taking part in the preparation with the residents.
• Putting together, decoration and preparation of the room.
• Help with serving at the bar.
• Handing out of information: leaflets.
• Organisation.
• Participation with residential meetings once a month.
• Participation with educational meetings once a week.
• Welcome, inform and exchange with the residents.
• Work with the local associations and cultural service.
