Resumo: The voluntary work takes place in kindergartens which host children in between 2- 5 years old. Our motivation to host EVS volunteers is the support and help in the every day work of the kindergarten. This includes helping in the fine-art workshop, painting lessons, theatrical workshop, playing games with the children, to take part in the workshop in the subject of tastes (sweet, salty, bitter and sour), join the trips, excursions, helping in the kitchen of the kindergarten and helping the work of the information office of Velo.

The volunteers will assist the staff in the daily childcare and organise his/her own small project depending on his/her skills and ideas (e.g. music, handicraft, theatre, games etc). A further important aspect of the project is to give the volunteer the opportunity to put into the practice his/her ideas and to reflect upon this with experienced staff of our school.

Our main aims are the introduction of new activities taken by the volunteers for the daily life of the children, the promotion and contact with new cultures, especially from the volunteer origin, and the development of the artistic abilities of the children by helping the teachers in their activities. We believe that international education should serve intercultural understanding and cooperation providing strategies for meeting each child’s individual needs through play and to deliver a well balanced international curriculum which is being continually developed and improved in harmony with the cultural beliefs of the host country and multicultural community.

Tarefas: 1) Helping in the regular workshops of the kindergarten: fine-art workshop, painting lessons, theatrical workshop, music- kinetic workshop

2) Support the everyday activities of the kindergarten:
- Take care of the kids from accidents,
- Help for serving the food, cleaning the tables after
- Help the kids washing their hand, helping in the toilet, change clothes if needed, and in general care of the dressing of the kids ..etc. ,

3) Handcraft with the kids,
- Playing with the kids in the free time activity, (according to the timetable and the program of the kindergarten, the volunteer has the opportunity of making his/ her own workshop after communication with the teachers of the kindergarten.)

4) Helping the teachers to prepare the materials and the room for the activities, gathering them after the activity,
- Avoiding conflicts between the kids,
- Comply the kids with the rules of the kindergarten,
- Pay attention on immature aggressive kids,
- Playing and take care of the kids during the outside activities,

5) Support of cultural events
- take part in the activities of the Information office like writing e-magazine, interviews with Greek and foreign volunteers, presentations about the project, preparing promotional presentations and movies.

6) Velo kindergarten volnteers
Once a week the volunteer will partcipate in the activities of the Youth Center in Velo organising handicraft workshops for with kids under the direction of the supervisor.

Horário: The volunteers work from Monday to Friday from 8:00 – 13:30. The volunteer will work in total 30 hours per week.

Condições: Food:
Volunteers will take their meal (breakfast and lunch) in the kindergarten and they receive 105 EUR food money as well. The volunteers are required to provide food receipts for all the food money on the last day of the month. The receipts must contain only food items.


Accommodation:
Volunteers live in a rented house. There is a free Wireless internet access, phone for incoming calls, TV set, a DVD home cinema, a washing machine, a microwave, a toaster...etc in all apartments. The bed-linen is provided; the volunteer should bring towels. The volunteer should be able to share the room with 1 to 3 other volunteers and we cannot ensure the volunteer where he/she will be accommodated.
Volunteers are responsible for keeping the house clean. The local coordinating organization and the host organization have the responsibility to verify the standard of living conditions of the house in communication with the volunteers.
The cleaning materials for the housekeeping are provided by the host organization. Volunteers are also responsible for the technical equipments in the house.

Formação: The volunteers will receive Greek language lessons and traditional Greek dance lessons and free access to gym.
