Resumo: As the clientele of the youth center consists in part of young people with immigrant background, we regard it as a great advantage when an European volunteer is with us. Young people identify with the cultural diversity of the volunteers, which in turn can positively affect their behavior. We also see the European Voluntary Service as a great addition to our youth center staff and our visitors. The children and young people learn through the European Voluntary to know a different culture and mentality and to deal with it.

The volunteer could bring their own experiences from youth work in his country into the youth center, and also new suggestions and ideas. For the team, an European volunteer is a great support.

In our institution, we have already recorded seven European volunteers and have always worked together very well. The European volunteers contribute much with their ideas and personalities into the work areas and the team.

Perfil: As we work on the basis of our various actions, including in the evening hours and on weekends, we expect a high degree of flexibility and willingness to work at regular intervals on weekends.

Tarefas: The concept of the open doors in St. Reinhildis Höstel is then designed to offer children and young people an experience space. Primary aims are to bring our children and young people meaningful leisure time activities in more detail. The Youth Centre is a meeting place for young people aged 7 to 21 years. The leasure activities geared to the needs of visitors. The Internet cafe of our hotel is central and requires special care. An enrichment of the youth club are the current special offers in the area of child and youth work (Easter, summer, autumn and winter holiday program). We also offer ongoing offers such as regular cooking activities, creative activities such as handicrafts and painting, guitar lessons.

Our desire is that the volunteers bring an international flair to the house and to the visitors to raise their interest in other cultures and different lifestyles. Our objective aim is the inclusion of a volunteer to campaign for more tolerance and respect for other cultures and to reduce prejudice against the unknown.

The volunteer will support the general operations of the director of the institution, especially regarding the activities. They should learn in cooperation with the educational management organization for the educational goal planning and their practical implementation. They also have an important role as an employee of the youth club and is prepared for the responsible activity and will be supported there. The volunteer is supervised by a mentor, with whom they meet regulary during the entire duration of the service.

The social worker guaranties the volunteer a kind of support for the integration of the project, country and culture. The volunteer is encouraged to bring their own ideas, creativity and experience to the development of the project.
