Resumo: In the coalescing Europe it's important to give disabled persons opportunities to get to know foreign countries and cultures. If they spend their holiday abroad, they only get an incomplete impression of the life there. But in the intensive contact to an European volunteer they get the chance to get to know details of the foreign country, get the chance to loose their reservations and get the chance to train tolerant behavior. The interest of other countries grows and a tolerant behavior will be practiced.

As a hosting organization, we can introduce the volunteer in the work with the disabled here in Germany. He will get to know structures and aims of this field here. The volunteer also gets to know possibilities what companies can organize for this group with a support of honorary people.

Perfil: Volunteers should have high sensibility to work with disabled people and to support them in their development. Open mindedness and interest in working together with others would be helpful.

It would be good, if the volunteers had hobbies like music or sports or even are interested in dealing with computer. It would be helpful, if the volunteer was able to cook.
An organization, which is engaged and takes care for the work with disabled people, is preferred.

The selection procedure is performed by the supporting organization. On the basis of the large partner network and years of experience, we will let us advise on the selection of the volunteer. During the selection process we will get in touch personally with the candidate by phone and by email.

Tarefas: The volunteer finds out much about the culture in the foreign country: They learn the language and get practical knowledge about German while living here. He can abolish frontiers in direct contact with Germans.

In addition to this the program can be amplified: Together with the German volunteers he can offer new courses which e.g. fit to his hobbies. He could report about his home country and give the disabled as well as the young volunteers an understanding of their own culture.

Together with other volunteers they can learn how to treat disabled and work with them in free time. They learn to take charge of needy people and learn to work in a team together with kindred spirits.

The volunteer gets a wide insight in the German work with disabled people: They get to know their working places as well as their living places and they get to know, how disabled spend their free time.

Because disabled people go to school for the whole day or work till 5 p.m. free time-activities and offers in learning from the hosting organization for disabled people take place in the afternoon, early in the evening and at the weekend. So the work for the volunteers starts at that time. The details we arrange with each volunteer in consideration of their own interests and abilities.
