Resumo: A/ Environnement du projet: The office of FRMJC is situated in Orléans, capital city of the Région Centre. Orléans is located one hour away from Paris, in the heart of the Loire Valley, famous for its Renaissance castles. Orléans and its surroundings benefit from a strong historical (private hotels and Renaissance castles, Jane of Arch) and natural (Loire river, forest of Orléans, the ponds of Sologne, cereal plains of the Beauce area…) heritage. It attracts many tourists. In Orléans live 264 000 inhabitants. The activity of FRMJC spread over the whole Région Centre. A region as big as Belgium or the Netherlands but with a population of only 4% of the French population (2,4 million people live in Région Centre). Région Centre is a region without borders, historically rural and where the action in favour of the European youth mobility is a priority. The member organisations of FRMJC are situated in the urban sector as well as in the rural sector and the volunteer will be able to discover the variety of people participating in the youth and cultural centres' activities. Nevertheless, the activity of the volunteer will be mainly based in Orléans. Two activities are offered to the volunteers : 1) An activity within the RI&DH Service of FRMJC. This service has a region-wide and European-wide activity. Its various fields of work are: sending European volunteers, supporting member organisations in managing projects of a European dimension (mainly youth exchanges or hosting volunteers), helping organising activities in the field of the fight against discriminations and human rights education. Through this activity, the volunteer will be in contact youngsters and young adults from the youth and cultural centres or schools of the region. 2) An activity shared between the RI&DH Service and SignAll platform. SignAll contributes to the development of new competences for youth workers and educators, integrating them into a European dimension that is now part of their daily lives: counselling, information, training, contact with European partners… In this project, the volunteer will be in contact with young people (12-25) through the activities within RI&DH service and with professional or volunteer youth workers through SignAll. Both volunteers will be accommodated together with the other volunteers coordinated by SignAll platform. Two flats are rent for the 6 European volunteers hosted in Orleans. Each volunteer will have his/her own bedroom. The flats are situated in the same block, 5 mn walk from the office of FRMJC, 5 mn walk from the train station and 10 mn walk from the city centre.
Perfil: "The different tasks offered to the volunteers (preferably 2 volunteers) will be as follow (but will be determined in agreement with the interests and capacities of the volunteer): Profile 1 : mission within the RI&DH service : - Human rights education and European awareness workshops in youth and cultural centres, schools and university (this new perspective will be developed with the volunteer): preparing the workshops, planning and organising, communicating with partners, leading and evaluating the workshops. - English conversation workshops for youth workers: preparation and leading workshops (1 workshop of 1,5 hour per month, preparation 1 hour/week). - Support of youth workers for European youth exchanges : support in project management (partner search, English writing, intercultural methods), support in the preparation of participants, participation in leading activities during exchanges (1 or 2 exchanges per year - 4h/week). - French classes: 3 hours / week. - Personal project: 4 hours / week. - Meeting with the responsible of the project: 1 hour / week. - Meeting with the mentor: 1 hour / week. Profile 2 - mission shared between RI&DH service and SignAll. - Support for the regional platform SignAll: gathering European and regional resources (looking for information of on going projects, putting European partners in contact, contribution to SignAll resource centre), looking for new partners, meeting the various actors of the platform, participating in the organisation of regional events (14 hours/week). - Human rights education and European awareness workshops in youth and cultural centres, schools and university (this new perspective will be developed with the volunteers): preparing, leading and evaluating the workshops. (11 hours/week). - English conversation workshops for youth workers: preparation and leading workshops (1 workshop of 1,5 hour per month, preparation 1 hour/week). - French classes: 3 hours / week. - Personal project: 4 hours / week. - Meeting with the responsible of the project: 1 hour / week. - Meeting with the mentor: 1 hour / week. Other activities: The volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in collective actions suggested by SignAll members : talking about their EVS experience, support in leading trainings on European topics, specific events : discrimination day, European day, European volunteering year… C/ Profils des volontaires et procédure de sélection. We are looking for motivated youngsters, enthusiastic and innovative who have a special interest in non-formal education and the promotion of human rights and diversity. The volunteers should feel concerned about tolerance, citizenship and European issues. A basic level of English will be necessary to organise English workshops. The volunteers should show interest about Internet and multimedia tools as they will have to use them during the project (an introduction to these tools can be organised when the volunteers have no competence in this area) .The selection will be made upon equal opportunities and non-discriminating criteria."
Tarefas: B/ Activités proposées aux volontaires S.V.E. The volunteer will often be confronted with youngsters that are not culturally aware, that have low competences in foreign languages and that can have xenophobic attitudes. However, the activities carried out since 2004 by the RI&DH, notably thanks to hosting collectively 10 European volunteers for a pilot project in favour of active participation, opened the way for further reflection and new actions in cooperation with the youth workers who have daily contact with the youngsters. This first hosting experience of European volunteers led to a better awareness of the local actors (educational or financial) concerning European citizenship and encouraged them to work in partnership for the development of the opportunities offered to young people. Opportunities in the host organisation: - to participate in raising the awareness of young people on Europe through different actions: visiting youth clubs, presenting an interactive exhibition on Europe, developing information and communication tools on Europe. - to participate in raising the awareness of young people on cultures, diversity and the respect for human rights: leading human rights education workshops, getting acquainted with intercultural learning tools. - To participate in raising the awareness of youth workers on the European dimension of their work: to help them overcome the linguistic barrier, to inform and train them on various European issues. - To integrate in a network various local, regional and European actors in order to enlarge the opportunities offered to young people and to support the better quality of the actions they carry out. In these various activities, the volunteer will be able to develop new competences: youth work, use of new technologies, project methodology, communication skills, teamwork, networking, training skills, knowing the functioning of French NGOs… In addition will come intercultural competences : French language, acquaintance with the French culture, discovery of other European cultures while living with other European volunteers. In any of his/her tasks, the volunteer will be supported by a professional worker that will help him/her acquiring these competences, identifying his/her training needs and becoming autonomous, at the same time encouraging him/her to deepen his/her citizen's involvement and participation throughout the realisation of personal projects.
