Resumo: During the EVS the volunteer will learn about all the different aspects of youth work in Germany in a theoretical as well as practical approach (e.g. open youth work, leisure time excursions, concerts, international workcamps and youth exchanges, regional networking, courses focussing on creativity, etc.). In the facility, the volunteer will have several opportunities to make contact with other volunteers (national or international) and with honorary members of the institution, with whom they can work together on some of the projects.

During their daily work, volunteers will participate in team consultations, internal and external meetings and professional trainings.

Perfil: - Minimum basic German language skills
- age: 18 until 30 years old
- tolerant ond openminded
- interested in working together with children and youth
- interested in music

Tarefas: The volunteer will work in a team and be responsible for certain tasks. The volunteers are provided the opportunity to choose a main emphasis according to their interests and talents, for which he or she will be responsible during their project (of course always with the favoured and needed support).
These projects could be: environmental projects (e.g. the use of solar energy), educational music projects, creative offers for children and adolescents or networking between youth institutions for the organisation of a major musical event (RAKATAK).

The main task in the Jugendhaus Königstadt is to offer a variety of leisure time activities to the children and youth by using the method of open youth work. Such activities are for example cultural activities, arts and creative workshops, political educational work and sports. In this context we offer courses, workshops and projects for interested people of all ages. An important topic is the education in musical art.

Within the children and youth club there are regular live concerts of schoolbands. Voluntary employees organise the concerts and supervise the pupils. Furthermore there are school discos and theater projects for pupils.

The work within the Jugendhaus Königstadt could be divided in 3 main parts: open youth work, workshops and events like live concerts. Open youth work defines the whole area of the youth club where visitors can play table tennis, table soccer, streetball, billard, cook together, just meet each other, talk, play, listen to music,... Primarily this is the working area where the EVS volunteer will get the first contact to the visitors of the Jugendhaus Königstadt. This is one of his/her main working fields. During the EVS the volunteer will also be part of the workshops. He/she will start to take part in the workshops, thereafter co-coordinate and if he/she wants and is interested he/she can organise an own workshop. At the moment the topics of the offered workshops are: stage equipment, stop-motion.movies, airbrush, screen printing, recording studio, self-made skateborads,... Regularly the workshops were modified, widened but also be omitted based on the interests of the visitors as well as the knowledge and possibilities of the staff of Jugendhaus Königstadt as well as temps working there. Like already mentioned if an EVS-volunteers is interested in organising an own workshop he/she can discuss this with the team and get help by realising this project.

Beside the open youth work, workshops and events there are also special projects like international workcamps and youth exchanges as well as holiday and weekend camps with special topics. But these projects are just highlights and no regular offers. But for sure EVS volunteers are welcome to be involved in these kinds of projects as well as organising an own project/exchange if they are interested.

The target group of our institution are youth between 13 and 25 years. Sometimes we also work with different generations. The main focus are youngsters between 13 and 18 years. There are about 60 visitors at the Jugendhaus Königstadt per day.
