Perfil: Age: 18 until 30 years old
We are open to host volunteers without previous experience in the work we do. No specific skills are required.
It is important to us that the volunteer is very interested and motivated in working with kids and we welcome any kind of creative talent which adds up to our usual activties.
We plan that the volunteer will not only support us during the daily routine, but s/he will also be offered the possibility to organize and plan his/her own workshops and activties with the kids. Therefore we need a very initiative person.
Tarefas: The volunteer should support our team with excursions which will take place once a week, different workshops and other activities. School starts for the children at 8.30 a.m.
and ends at 1 p.m. with one afternoon for the elder children until 4 p.m. After school there will be a brief review of the day (15 - 30 min) and once a week a longer review what happened the week before and a preview for the next days/weeks.
The volunteer should be very open and motivated, bringing in own ideas and like to work with children at the age from 6 to 15 years.
We would like the volounteer to give our children an insight into his/her country, culture, language, way of life etc. in the way of music, theatre, entertainment, pictures, stories. To give the children an understanding for multiculture in our common world, to respect the difference and the speciality of other cultures.
Horário: A typical day of the week may look like this:
8.00 - 8.30 a.m. turn up of the children
8.30 - 9.00 a.m. the children are planing their day, telling the mentor what they are going to do during the learning time. We call it scientific circle.
9.00 - 10.30 a.m. individual learning time. Each child has its own schedule for the whole week and can decide what to do first.
10.30 - 11.00 a.m. snack time. Usually two children prepare the snack for the whole school (bread, vegetable, fruit).
11.00 - 12.45 a.m. offers or workshops which can be organized by the mentors, parents or others.(e.g. pottery, fantasy journeys, telling fairy tales, music, percussion, yoga, knitting, working with wood). The participation of the children is voluntary.
12.45 - 1.00 p.m. scientific circle. The pupils tell what they actually did during the learning time which does not always confirm to their plan. School is over.
1.00 - 1.30 p.m. Reflection of the day of the team - Once a week until approx. 3.00 p.m.
The team meeting is an important part in our concept which is necessary for constructive work
Thursday: 11.00 - 12.00 a.m. Parliament of the pupils. Discussion of the rules for the school.
The secundaria will have school one afternoon until 4.00 p.m.
Wednesday is our excursion day:
Here we go skiing, ice-skating, swimming, visiting different professions, hiking, exploring the surroundings of the school, visiting a theatre. Many times we are on a farm nearby in Leogang where several projects can take place (e.g. plant and seed vegetables, gather them in autumn and cook a meal, care for the animals, make bread, discovering the nature).
