Resumo: The hosting organization is located in one of the biggest city in Austria (170.000 inhabitants). The city in Austria to attract tourism. The beautiful old part of the city is overlooked by an impressive fortress on a hill. The region around the city is very scenic with lakes and mountains allowing a lot of leisure-time activities. The city is reknown for its musical festivals (summer and Easter). There is also an university at which 20.000 students are enrolled.

Our target areas for sociocultural work on the other hand are concentrated in two districts in the city aside of the beautiful, touristic image.

In Itzling we have a very good network with partner organisations (e.g. youth centre CORNER, resident service centre, retirment home, community garden, centre for intercultural encounters,…). Since 1993 the city district Itzling is one of our focus areas for our activities. Itzling itself used to be a separate town, until it was integrated into the city. And has got lots of open spaces and playgrounds.

The district is the area around the central station. Not like in Itzling, there are hardly any open spaces. the district is a neighbourhood with a high percentage of people with migrational background.

The project team consist of three regular workers, aside of the office based staff. The volunteer would support them in the different project locations.

Regular activities are teenager-afternoons in the local youth centre, playing games with the youngsters as well as the seniors in the retirement home, playing ground animation, cooking together (in winter), children's newspager & radioshow, different excursions, sports, outdoor activities, working at the local community garden, intercultural evenings/weeks etc.

Twice a week the volunteer will be engaged in an own project. The youth centre offers the volunteer the possibility, equipment and know-how to create and produce e.g. a booklet about the project, stories and actions taken place in the project, pictures, etc. The team in the project is open to any kind of creative idea, interest, input and ability of the volunteer and will support him/her to create a project that represents his/her time in the youth centre.

Perfil: - age: 18 until 30 years old
- interested in working with children between 5 and 15
- eduction in social work is a plus
- contribute creative ideas
- able to work in a team
- German language is a plus
- driving license is an advatage

Tarefas: 1)assisting in the team with the everyday-programme,
- like sports, youth centre, elderly home, children's newspaper, community garden, etc
- create new ideas and inputs for the everyday-programme (e.g. new handicraft ideas, cultural activities, games from their home countries,…).

2) Twice a week the volunteer will be in our youth centre
- create his/her own project linked to his/her time as EVS and the centre.
