Resumo: The EVS volunteer will work for the hosting organization, he/she will be based at the office, located in the heart of the city.

The city has 1000000 inhabitants. In there are a lot of opportunities for spending leasure time, doing sports, visit the great different styles of music concerts, playing theater, playing music, meeting friends, visiting youth clubs etc.

The volunteer will be hosted in a host family in the city or near the city. The life in a host family will facilitate the integration in the local community and will accelerate the process of both language and intercultural learning.

Through the organization and a partner organization well-established network it will be easy to support the volunteer in finding activities of her/his interest and in making friends with other young people.

The purpose of the activity is to further develop the organization. The volunteer will become involved in all aspects. He/she will assist volunteers and board members, who also are volunteers.

The volunteer will be trained and will work on administrative issues linked to youth exchange and voluntary service programmes such as: public relations, quality assurance, project management, financial management, networking and partnership building, will run presentations at schools and local communities, etc. The volunteer's learning process in the above fields will be supported by on-the-job training whenever needed, structured and informal discussions as well as regular planning and sum-up meetings.

The volunteer will be directly involved in the preparation and implementation of meetings and preparation camps as co-facilitator. This will enable him/her to get a hands-on experience in the running of volunteer youth activities.

During the service period, the volunteer will be invited to participate in various activities offered by the local organization. In this way the volunteer will have face-to-face encounters with young people and youth workers from a variety of backgrounds and gain further intercultural competence.

The working language is Latvian and English the EVS volunteer will be expected to learn Latvian to a certain degree. Working time is flexible and consists of an average of 7/8 working hours per day from Monday to Friday. Work outside office hours or work on weekends will be compensated for during the next week.

Perfil: The volunteer should be creative and motivated to work in a dynamic intercultural atmosphere. She/he should also be diligent and reliable. A good command of English as well as PC literacy (Word, Excel) are essential.

Furthermore the volunteer must:
- be interested in working with people and youth
- have basic knowledge of the climate and general living conditions in Latvia
- be open for a different living situation, culture and environment
- be communicative
- be open to team work
- be interested in office work and administrative issues.

Tarefas: In terms of learning activities the EVS volunteer will:
- learn about the Latvian culture
- learn Latvian and some Russian
- learn to work in an international team
- gain office- and organisational skills
- learn how to develop and manage a project
- learn how to work with youth
- develop paedagogical skills
- develop intercultural skills
- develop personal skills to perfom a presentation
- develop personally
