Resumo: The hosting association has its headquarters in a semi-urban town located in the south of the region of Coruña, at only 20 km from Santigo de Compostela, important for its University, over 500 years old, which give the city a nice atmosphere, with its 30,000 students. It comprises 48,4 km2 distributed into smaller population nuclei. The total population is of 9,500 inhabitants, with half of them living in town. Regarding its economy, this area sits on the fertile valley of Sar river, and was very linked to agriculture; nowadays, only one area (Herbón) keeps that activity. The association extends to 12 municipalities with similar characteristics. The area of the this territory are 893 km2, and a population of 135,264 inh.
Volunteers will live in a house with garden near our premises. It has 4 bedrooms, 2 WCs, living-room, terrace and kitchen. They will share it with other volunteers and will be regularly supervised by our staff.
Proposed activities for EVS volunteers
The association is formed by over 60 entities from different fields: youth, culture, leisure, sports, business, neighbours, women,… In them, the contact and exchange (languages, customs and experiences) of volunteers will provide an added value.
The activities carried out by the association, allow the volunteers to have different learning experiences in projects with a social and rural development approach, depending on their preferences and interests. Volunteers will support the different projects and activities, and may participate in the design and implementation of the activities which most adapt to their interests, expectations and profile. There will be place for them to provide their ideas and suggestions, so they can actively participate and integrate in the team.
They will take an active part in our community, acquire formal and informal experiences; reinforce their sense of social comitment, acquire values such as solidarity, ability for team work, tolerance, European awareness, and improve social skills…
Role of volunteers in the host organisation In the association we carry out rural development projects with a socio-economic approach, so volunteers will participate in all activities linked to social, economic and tourist development of the regions works with.
Perfil: • Youth aged between 18 and 30 years
• Ability and interest for activities with young people and groups in risk of social exclusion.
• Communication skills, social abilities, initiative, enthusiasm and creativity.
• Values and ideals of solidarity and European identity.
• Sensitive with gender and opportunities equality..
• Committed with rural development.
Candidates should have abilities to adapt to the project, showing interest in learning, organization skills, motivation and social skills.
The process is open, transparent and accessible to all young people interested. We will obtain the cvs through:
• Circulating information on our vacancies to institutions that have previously collaborated with us on EVS.
• Making a call from the web page of the hosting organisation.
• Informing those volunteers that write to us wanting to join the hosting organisation.
• Including the information in the data base of EVS Works: Open Network.
We have created a Mixed Selection Commission made up of the director /person in charge of the project, a psychologist, a mentor and the person in charge of institutional connexions. We have designed a scale of technical scoring. Volunteers shall provide their c.v., a motivation letter and fulfil a questionnaire given by the organisation.
The hosting candidates with the highest scores will have an interview by telephone or skype.
Once this process is finished the Commission will match candidates to vacancies, taking into account interests motivations, wishes, knowledge of the project and the region where it will take place…Through this process of matching the Mixed Commission will select the most appropriate candidate for the tasks according to their social skills, solidarity values, motivations, interest in the beneficiaries of the project and the local development, previous volunteering experiences….
Tarefas: Volunteers will provide an added value to the actions of the association, direclty with the staff, incorporatin a European dimension to the projects, or collaborating directly with the projects of its partners.
The topics of the EVS projects aim the socio-economic development of the area, promoting enviornment, development of the rural environment, equal opportunities, revitalisation and development of the territory, economic diversity and improvement of the quality of life in rural territories.
The projects in which volunteers collaborate will help to reinforce the European identity, transferring their culture, traditions, languages and personal experiences, they will always support the beneficiaries (directly or indirectly). Main activities of volunteers:
Support planning, designing and implementing the actions of the projects (in our association or partner organisations).
Provide languages, customs, culture, etc. to actions where internationality provides an added value and enriches the contents of the project (i.e. in public conciliation services).
Support in accompaniment youth actions (local and European). The association organises informal meetings and trips of young local and/or European youth, and, as a mean to incentivate interculturality and knowledge of the rural environment, where volunteers may support professional tasks.
Children activities at schools to promote their potential, gender equality and equal opportunities, European identity, to introduce new learning values, among other.
Administrative support activities at schools, in the tourist sector,…
