Resumo: The city community is one of the most developed in Romania both from the social and economic point of view. The last few years have brought an increase in the economic development which has been reflected in the daily life.

It is considered one of the largest cities in Romania, the total number of people living in the city including the floating population of students and other nonresidents.Even from the Middle Ages the city has been a multicultural city with a diverse cultural and religious life,at present Hungarians, Roma, Jews and Germans sharing the city with Romanians.

Today, the city is one of the most important academic, cultural, industrial and business centres in Romania. Among other institutions, it hosts the largest university in the country, Babeş-Bolyai University, with its famous botanical garden; nationally renowned cultural institutions; as well as the largest Romanian-owned commercial bank.

The town is an important economic centre in Romania. Some of the local brands have become well-known at a national, and to some extent even international level, such as: Banca Transilvania, Farmec, Jolidon, and Ursus Breweries. Also much of the software/IT activity in the country is taking place in the town, which is quickly becoming Romania's technopolis.

A specific feature of the social environment is the big number of young people living in the town. This due to the fact that the city is considered an important educational centre and many choose its universities after graduating from highschool. In this way has become a city with a young spirit that offers a great variety of activities and opportunities for students coming to learn here.

From the perspective of volunteerism the community can be characterized as being opened towards this kind of activities. The great number of NGO’s working in different areas of activity (social, cultural, environment) increases the need for volunteers and therefore compels to develop new programs for volunteers and to maintain a professional aproach.

Perfil: Each project hosted by our organisation is approached by keeping in mind that EVS is an opportunity for personal development and growth for the volunteer. Therefore the volunteer’s profile is not a complex sketch of the perfect candidate but is rather based on a few general guidelines that we believe are relevant and can help sustain the learning process.

Besides the age criteria specific to European Voluntary Service projects, we are looking for volunteers motivated and interested in their own personal and professional development and that see EVS as a chance to gain skills, experience, values, etc. The EVS volunteers we are looking for keep their minds opened to the learning process and are at the same time ready to share skills, experience and knowledge by being creative and thinking out of the box.

As a volunteering centre and since volunteering is at the core of any EVS project, we are looking for young people that believe in the value of volunteering and are motivated to promote volunteering as a lifestyle in the local community.
Living and working in a multicultural environment, having to adapt and challenge your own ways of looking at life and the world during the integration in the local community will require a certain level of adaptability. It is recommended that the potential volunteer maintains an openness towards this process and an availability to integrate in the living and working environment.

In order to have an easy period of accommodation to the new environment, it is reccommended that the volunteer possess basic knowledge of English; we are looking for basic and not advanced English since the language used for communicating will be slowly replaced with Romanian, after the first weeks of language training.
Depending on the activity proposed in each of the future EVS projects, specific characteristics may be added to the volunteer’s profile described above (to the extent that these contribute to the overall success of the project and don’t limit the accesibillity of young people).

An open and transparent recruitment will be ensured at all levels of the process, from the call for volunteers to the final selection for each EVS project hosted.

The call for volunteers will be made public using as many channels of communication as possible: sending a message to all the international partners of our organization (more than 150 NGOs from European countries), making a public call on website www.youthnetworks.eu, yahoo groups fo organizations working with EVS (EVS-send_host-opportunities, EVS_partners etc.), contacting directly the young people subscribed to the youthnetworks.eu platform, etc.

The selection for each EVS projects will include several steps: receiving the applications from the interested young people (which will include a CV and a motivation letter), assessement of each application, selection of a short list for the online interview (using programs such as Skype or Yahoo Messenger), conducting the online interviews and making the final decision.

The interviews will be based on a interview guide used for all the applicants and constructed on some general themes: motivation for doing an EVS project, previous experience in volunteering/international context, potential difficulties anticipated, strenghts and weaknesses, etc. At the same time, the interview might include a practical test for the applicants - such as describing how he/she would organise a day in the hospital in the case of a project based in clinic animation. At the end of these process, each applicant will receive a motivated and individualised response regarding his/her acceptance in the project.

Tarefas: The main task of the volunteers will be to implement an animation programme in the Children's Hospital by developing games, artistic and educational activities. In the document attached you can find more details about the call for volunteers.
