Resumo: The maternity centre is located in the town, which has approximately 18 000 inhabitants. It is a small town with a beautiful historical square and many other interesting places. It is located in a lightly hilled country highland in the northeast of the Czech Republic. It is an important transport junction; it has a good position for tourists and interesting surroundings.

This place is quite a small town so it is possible to get everywhere by foot or by bike. Our volunteers can use bikes that we give them. From one end of the town to another it takes about 20 minutes by bike. The maternity centre is situated about 10 minutes by bike (15 minutes by foot) and Baby is situated about 15 minutes by bike (25 by foot) from the flat.

There is an opportunity to visit various cultural events such as a theatre, cinema, concerts, balls, museum, markets and library.

There are also many sport activities in the local stadium, ice rink, swimming pool, or in a sports hall. There is also a bowling centre, football and volleyball club and several in-line trails. Not far from the town you can find routes for cross country skiing, but also several pistes for downhill skyiing.

There are plenty of touristic routes and bikeways as well. There are also some open-air concerts and music festivals in the summer. It is possible to spend pleasant time with friends in various caffes , restaurants, pubs or in the alternative club.

In the town there are many shops and supermarkets where volunteers can buy their food. There are also many restaurants which offer lunch menus for 60-90 crowns and there is also a possibility to buy lunches in some canteen.

Perfil: The volunteer can be a young person, who likes to work with people (mainly children) and is willing to be creative. They should be willing to learn Czech language during their stay, mainly for easier conversation with small children. We want to be in contact with the sending organisation before the volunteer arrives. We would like to cooperate with the sending organisation, which is reliable and knows the volunteers they want to send. We will certainly contact some registered sending organisation (we have contacts from colleagues from other projects and from SOHO). We believe that the sending organisation can help us a lot and recommend the volunteer which would be the best for us. The organisation can also inform us about difficulties and problems which may occur in the future. We are also willing to educate even an inexperienced person, the only important thing is to be willing to cooperate.

The recruitment process is very important for us. We want the volunteer to send us his/her CV and the motivation letter (why he/she wants to work in our organization, what she/he can bring to our organization and work).

We would like to speak with the volunteers on skype where we can have a discussion, get more information and learn more about them.

Tarefas: We offer an open and friendly enviroment in a small collective of the maternity and family centre (3 employees and few active members). The volunteer can learn cooperation that is important for the Maternity and family centre run. He/she will learn how to offer our service to the families with children and also how to use the feedback to develop our activities. The volunteer will have the possibility to bring his/her own ideas and projects. We think that the volunteer can gain new knowledge and abilities that can be utilized in organizing events for family groups. The volunteer will also learn how to work and how to take care of very small children which can be useful in his future profession as well as personal life.Parents are mainly 25-40 years old and the age of the children is mostly from 0 to 6.

During the first 5 months, the volunteer will have 2 lessons (1 lesson=60 minutes) of Czech language in a week. After these 5 months it will be 1 lesson per week. These lessons will take place in the volunteer´s flat after work. Days and hours when these lessons will take place depend on volunteers´options and will.

During the EVS in our organization the volunteers will learn how to work with the youngest children. They will learn how to realize activities for such small children. They will learn how to communicate with these children and how to take care of them. They will also obtain basic working skills that can help them in future life.

We will try to plan the timetable and the volunteer´s job together with the volunteer so both sides can be satisfied. On regular meetings of volunteers and the coordinator, the volunteers will get instruction of what is needed to be done in the following week and the coordinator will evaluate their previous job. The coordinator will also support the volunteer in his/her learning process. Somebody from the working team will be close to him/her and try to offer information, explanation or help, how to realize concrete tasks. Our volunteer will never be alone in his/her activity.

The volunteer will take part in:

1. Regular short activities - their preparation, working out and realization of the program, helping the activation workers. That is the main scope of employment. The volunteer will be present on the activities that are held every week. The activities´ themes are for example: art activities, musical and moving classes, baby club for the youngest children, ecological classes etc. The volunteer can prepare the activity or can help families and children to participate in short activities. We expect that the volunteer's competences for working with families and children will grow. This will be reached due to the transparency of the theory and the practice. Every activity is approximately for 10 mothers with children.

2. Babysitting – the volunteers will spend cca 2 days in a week in our babysitting centre for maximum of 10 small children (1-3 years) whose parents need to work and need to take care of their children. The volunteer will learn how to deal with children in this age category. They will help the workers with ordinary actions (feeding the children, playing with the children...) but they will also prepare their own short activities for these children (art activities, english lessons, motoric activities...). They can also realize their own ideas what to do with the children.

3. Preparation of the bigger events for public - we arrange at least 1 bigger event for the public per 2 months. These events are usually during the weekends and are prepared and realized by the whole team, including volunteers. The events are for example: lampion parade, carnival or St. Nicolas celebration. The volunteer will have an oportunity to realize their own ideas and we will teach him/her how to organize these events. 30-200 people come to these kind of events.

4. Comunication with parents, children - comunication skills increasing, gaining the information about the families in the Czech Republic, their social situation, about the multicultural questions, enviromentalism, etc.

5.It is possible to cooperate with other organisations, which works with the elderly. Volunteers can play various games with seniors, they can read to them, dance with them, prepare for them some short art or music activitiy or they can try to speak with them in Czech. The people there are very open and friendly.

The volunteers will always be there with employees of the organization. It should be about 10-20% of the whole service here. It depends on the volunteer´s will. The volunteers can learn how to work with the elderly there in their free time, which acivities can help them stay active and how to communicate with them. The volunteers can improve their Czech language there as well.

There is also a possibility to work in other organizations according to what the volunteer wants to do. Volunteers will have the possibility to work in organizations that work with young people (which offers many various activities for children from 6-18 years as well as various actions and workshops for adults) or the low-cost club Dira that works with children and young adults (from 6-26 years). There they can take part in various workshops and activities (art or music workshops, English lessons, summer camps etc.) It can be very good for the volunteers because they can learn how to work with older children and young adults, they can improve their language skills (both in Czech or in English) and they can get in touch with people who are in the same age as volunteers. In the low cost club they can also learn how to work with children and young adults who are threatend by social exclusion.

6. The volunteers will spend also about 6 hours a week in the local kindergarden, where they will have the possibility to work with children through ages 3-6 years and they will prepare some short english activities for them.

7. Volunteers will have at least 2-3 presentations about their country and culture during the EVS. There they will have the opportunity to introduce their culture to the local community.

The volunteer will have an opportunity to see how family-oriented policy looks and work in the Czech Republic and in our region.
The volunteer will have a chance to make her/his own mini-project during his/her stay in our organisation. The topic of the mini – project depends on the volunteer. We are ready to support the volunteer in this mini-project and to help him/her with the realization of it.

We will also try to cooperate with local secondary schools. The volunteers can help students to improve their English-by a non formal way and in return for this the students can help the volunteers to enhance their Czech. It would also be a chance for the volunteer to meet people who are in the similar age group and who can help them to integrate in the local community.

Tuesday: 8:00-14:00 (babysitting) 15:00-17:00 (preparation for activities and helping with various things)

The timetable can change according to activities that are needed to be done. When the volunteers will work during the weekend they can take some free days instead of it after consultation with the coordinator.
