Resumo: The hosting organization is located in a medium sized city located in the North-Western part of the country. The city has a population of around 140,000 inhabitants including different ethnic and religious minorities: Romanians (82,85%), Hungarians (14,79%), Rroma (5,3%), Ukrainians (0,25%), Germans (0,35%), Jewish (0,04%).
The city was first mentioned in official documents in the year 1329 as a gold mining centre.
Situated in a mountainous region and surrounded by a unique landscape, the small villages around offer a great atmosphere for tourists, as in the county traditions are still preserved by the people living in rural areas in the same way their ancestors used to do it.
Despite the attractions it has to offer, our county is still struggling to promote its full potential. In the rural part of the county people are still living in quite traditional communities so that coming in contact with different cultures will have a meaningful impact. Also, the organization will encourage young people from our region to go abroad and gain experience as EVS volunteers.
Our city is situated in Northern Transylvania, one of the most diverse regions, bearing in mind the unique mix of nationalities, cultures and religions. For centuries, Romanians, Hungarians, Germans, Jews and Ukrainians have been living peacefully in a truly multicultural community where diversity is at its best, thus providing a good model of tolerance and positive awareness of other cultures.
Perfil: For the recruitment process the organization has been working closely with the partner organizations ensuring that the project is visible and promoted in the groups of possible beneficiaries from all the participant countries. We will host volunteers aged between 18 and 30, and will include them in the projects according to their needs and competences. Firstly, the volunteers hosted in our projects are desired to be passionate about learning and education, love working with children, show an open minded attitude towards a different culture. Also, we wish they be flexible with the activities they take part in and willing to integrate and socialize, as they will work in an international environment. There will be no special requirements apart from being positive, energetic, outgoing, communicative, and at least a basic level of English as they will be serving as part of an international team, and some linguistic common ground is desirable. The portrait of the volunteer mentioned above might be helpful for orientation, however it is not a strict requirement.
They are encouraged to come up with own ideas and activities that will help them improve their skills and expand their horizons. Also, we plan to organize presentations within the community to promote the EVS projects we are implementing.
Tarefas: The EVS volunteers’ main role will be to assist and coordinate various indoor and outdoor activities and non-formal educational programmes for children and youth, some of them coming from suggestions received during the preparation of the project application from them such as: games, sports, mountaineering, arts and crafts workshops, music, drama, language clubs, thus playing an active part in the life of our organisation and of the community as well. They will have the option to choose from a range of activities that our organization implements with the help of our qualified team of staff and volunteers. The youngsters will be able to participate in the following projects: Mother’s Day, Earth Day, Easter, Environment Day, Europe’s Day, Kids Day, The European Day of Languages, Halloween, Christmas, etc. The EVS volunteers are open to bring their ideas on how to best organise these activities and play an active part in their conception and implementation.
Apart from the activities and events mentioned above, that will run on a regular basis, the volunteers are free to come up with initiatives of their own that could be implemented for the benefit of everybody involved. They will design and implement a community project to actively involve children and youth with fewer opportunities. Also, they will make at least five public events to promote non-formal education and volunteering to the local community as part of their international project: The Day of Volunteering, The Non-formal Education Day, Youth Day, etc.
The first two weeks that the volunteers will spend in their project will be organized as preparation for the project. The volunteers will undergo an induction session from our staff and volunteers.
Horário: The volunteers will work on average six hours every day and have two days off every week end. Also, the youngsters will have a monthly holiday of two days
