Resumo: The project is based in the village, a small traditional village with its origins in fishing, on the southern coast. It is now a popular seaside resort, attracting many tourists in the summer.
Much of the economy of the village is based around the tourist industry, but despite its outward appearance, the village and its inhabitants are often surprisingly traditional in their views, and the volunteers must behave accordingly. The volunteers are expected to work in close contact with the local community as well as interacting with the tourists that pass through, informing them about turtles, human threats to the environment, and the Group's activities.
Volunteers live all together and are expected, like all members of the project in the summer, to respect basic common rules about cooking and cleaning, which are generally done on a rota basis.
Perfil: The Group simply requires hard working and enthusiastic people with a genuine desire to help. We do not request any specific skills as training is given, however a reasonable level of physical fitness is an advantage due to the demanding physical nature of our regular work. We are open to accept any volunteer and to work with any kind of sending organization.
Because of the nature of our project, we are particularly well suited to working with organizations and volunteers with a strong interest in the protection of nature and the environment.
We advertise volunteer positions on our website and on other related website on the Internet. We take applications in the form of a questionnaire and we reply to all applicants in a given time. We recommend EVS to all eligible potential volunteers.
