Resumo: It is helpful if a volunteer appreciates the countryside!
This area is known for agriculture, fishing and small industry.
EVS volunteers are hosted in different regions and towns in this part of The Netherlands, as well as further north. Within these regions, the exact location of the projects can differ from year to year.
A vital part of the mission of building bridges and breaking down walls is for volunteers to learn to work as a cross-cultural team. This means they will complement and support each other during their stay, while they develop and execute strategies to motivate, inspire and involve local youth in on-going cross-cultural projects in the various regions.
Volunteers also stay in guest homes, usually with one family but sometimes two. In guest homes, volunteers experience Dutch culture first-hand and can develop relationships with the families and local young people. In this setting, the volunteer learns to cooperate with the regional team and is stimulated to learn about Dutch culture and language.

We select volunteers based on the above criteria as well as on how their skills, interests, experiences and education match the goals of the project and the making of a team. Team building is a crucial part of building bridges and creating a local impact, so we look for those who complement each other with their individual strengths. Each project needs its own particular type of volunteer and we match volunteer and project as well as we can.

- caring for the team and guests
- gardening and maintenance
- organize a personal project, under the supervision of the staff, which will involve the various aspects they learn in an informal setting.
