Resumo: Our organization is a Registered Charity.
We work with people with learning disabilities to advance their personal development and lead a full life within the community, using the support and friendship of volunteers. The organisation compliments and operates in partnership with other statutory and voluntary agencies.

The organisation provides a wide range of small, quality, innovative services for people with learning disabilities, and services are broadly split between day services for people with severe and profound learning disabilities, and support services for people with mild and moderate learning disabilities:

1) Day Opportunities

are community based day services which operate Monday to Friday. Activities include sports, gardening, local trips, keep fit, cookery, pottery, art, participation in the Gateway Award, etc. The Day Opportunities incorporate a service for Asian women with learning disabilities, and a service for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities and complex needs.

2) Support Services
provide support in service users’ own homes, helping them to live independently, providing support for families with parenting issues, help with budgeting, life coaching and healthy living.

3)Options for Leisure
provide evening and weekend activities such as cooking sessions, art groups, ten-pin bowling, country walks, cinema trips, meals out, holidays, etc.

Options for Work has one social business, Oak Green Services (a gardening and maintenance service) which offers service users work experience, and provides a valuable service to the community.

Perfil: - Age: from 18 years
- with concern and sensitivity to intervene in the field of social service

- Facilities to adapt

Tarefas: - day opportunities’ (9am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday) including sports, gardening, local trips, keep-fit, craft, cookery, pottery, art, drama, etc.
- escorting people on the minibus,
- supporting service users to enjoy their activities,
- helping paid staff to provide personal care,
- administration tasks,
- preparing rooms for activities and clearing away after,
- enabling service users to take part in leisure activities on evenings or weekends,
- and sometimes taking part in holidays with service users.

Horário: . Monday to Friday for a 35 hour week. They may be asked to work one evening session each week, for which they will be given time off.

. work at 3 or 4 different ‘day opportunities’, each for a period of at least 3-4 months.

Condições: We provide furnished accommodation, shared with other EVS, in the area close to where the organisation is based.

Accommodation will usually consist of: lounge with TV, individual bedroom, shared kitchen and bathroom. We also provide bedding (quilt and cover, sheets, pillows and pillowcases), and we pay for rent, electricity, gas, water, Council Tax, some telephone calls, television licence and household insurance (which covers the volunteers’ personal possessions).
