Resumo: The Studentenkinderhort is based in the middle of the University campus.
We believe that only in a respectful environment, a child can develop his full self, and so his creativity. In our long history we build on and continue the tradition of an education without fear of authorities to ensure that the education of humanity continue to succeed.

The opening hours of the Hort are Monday- Friday from 12 to 6 p.m. During these hours the volunteer should be present and interact with the children. The volunteer should bring in her/his own knowledge and experience from her/his culture area, which may be music, dances, tales, cooking receipts, games, sports etc.

The afternoon starts with a common meal, cooked by our own cook and after that 1-2 hours where the children do their home work. After that, the leisure time activities start: mostly outdoors, but also indoors if the weather is not good. During the openings hours, two full time staff members are present. This guarantees that the volunteer will never have the sole responsibility over the whole group of children.

Perfil: - we do not host a volunteer aged under 18
- open minded,
- interested in sports and outdoor activities
- enjoy to work with children
- creative spirit or languages skills can be from advandage but are not needed.

Tarefas: - On a normal day we have lunch at 12 all together.
- At about 1pm, the children devide in groups and do their home work. The volunteer also joins a group and can help the children, if necessary.
- After the homework, the leisure time programme starts.

- On Tuesdays this mostly is sports: swimming, football, gymnastics, iceskating, or any sport the volunteer is specialized in.
Depending on the weather, we offer also some outdoor or indoor games, some creative workshops like painting, drawing, baking cookies etc or practicing for a theatre play that will be presented to the parents on special occasions or for a dancing workshop. Of course the children can also play by themselves.

- The volunteer can either participate in the existing programm, which is defined in one of the weekly meetings, or lead a workshop by him/her self, together with the staff, on a topic that he/she is familiar with and interested in.

- Two weeks per year we go on an holiday-excursion outside of Vienna with the children:
1. in Winter we go skiing
2. in Summer we go to the countryside.

During these weeks, the main thing is to make sure the children have a good time: activities depend on the weather and the location: mainly it is hiking/skiing, swimming, doing games, barbeque etc.

The volunteer can help prepare these weeks (inventing games and activities) and help with practical organisational matters, cooking together with the kids and the staff etc. We see this also as an opportunity for the volunteer to see other parts of Austria.

Horário: This brings the average of the working hours for the volunteer to about 30-35 hours per week.
