Resumo: The volunteers will work with the Waldorf pedagogy. This was new pedagogic and cultural movement which has had a lot of success in the world. It is based on anthroposophy (based on a deep knowledge of human beings and their stages of development).

This current is quite different to traditional methodologies and is based on serenity, reaction, imagination and artistic sensibility, solidarity and tolerance. Art, foreign languages and grammar are very important (through fairy tails, fables, folk legends, poetry,...).

The school learning is organised in 7-year cycles.

Games are used to master body movements, gain balance, define a delicate touching and a strong impulse, in order to, later, gain self confidence.

The project takes place in a rural tourism house with plots with place for our project.

The school has 3 modules (2 for pre-school and 1 for primary education), each with 2 classrooms. It also has 1 cabin for activities. Volunteers will mainly support in pre-school education and maybe, if their profile matches, in Primary education.

Tarefas: Volunteers will participate in the following kindergarten activities:

1. First morning half:

Volunteers help to prepare breakfast: fruit salad. They will also change diapers or clothes, when necessary.

- During most of the time, there are free games. This is becaues game developes imagination and learning skills, necessary for the future of children.

- Volunteers will support the teacher to maintain the harmony of the group.

2. Second morning half:

- games in the garden. We need to help children to change their shoes and dress adequately or to encourage to do it. Small children cannot do this alone and the bigger ones need support.

- Often, children need clean clothes after the garden.

- In the garden, it is also necessary to carry out other tasks: sand wood, plant, water, pick up fallen leafs,...

- At 2 p.m. children go to the dining-room. Volunteers will help to give out lunch and will have lunch with the teachers and the children.

3. Afternoon:

Starting at 3 p.m., for the children using this service. Volunteers go to the playground, with the children. An educator coordinates the afternoon activities.

4. End of activity: 4:30 p.m. Volunteers end their service.

All these activities are coordinated by the teachers and volunteers supporting actively in them.

Volunteers also participate in cooking and cleaning tasks. This way, children have the chance of experiencing specific tasks which develop will, which they will later need for their studies and work.
