Resumo: The kindergarten is located at the outskirts of the little town with 3000 inhabitants in the north-east of thuringia, well known through its 300 years old pottery history, which gave the town the name pottery-city. A lot of people live from pottery and tourism. But also other small handcrafts are located in the town. The town is surrounded by hills, fields and forests. The city Jena, where all kind of entertainment and lifestyle can be found, can be reached easily by bus in 30 minutes. The bus goes every hour.We provide to all volunteers a discount card (50%) for all german railways (for mobility in Germany) and a bicycle (for mobility in the region).

Perfil: For us, the ideas and visions of the volunteers are in the foreground.

The volunteers should have the strong will and motivation to work with little children and their families, and ideas. So we hope to learn more about the interests of each individual candidate and to get a better basis for the design of the project.

An important criterion is that the volunteers are gifted artistically or sporty and have very good knowledge of their own culture (history, games, songs, dances, etc) as this should be taught to litlle children.

We would like to work with each potential sending organization, as we expect more partnerships. The most important criterion in the selection of volunteers is the compliance of the volunteers profile with the profile of the project.

Tarefas: The volunteers will gain technical skills and basic pedagogic knowledge in general care for children and specially in pedagogic.Basicly the volunteers are provided with possibilities to learn the language. We support our volunteers to get to know the german culture and lifestyle through regularly participation in meeting and events.

The volunteers will assist the educators in the kindergarten during everyday tasks. We expect that volunteers can help in these areas. Of course, we provide support, but the will to work and to implement ideas should be one of the characteristics of the volunteers. We want all the volunteers to reflect what they do, how it supports their goals, and how that meets their individual plans and ideas.

During the first month we focus on learning the language, learning about the environment and the activities and the daily routine. Therefore, we present a small list of easy tasks to enable an easy start of the volunteers. These tasks have a wide spectrum and allow them at their own pace to see how everything goes.

The volunteers will be asked to create a presentation about their home country and of themselves. Furthermore the whole team is presented to the volunteers. This gives the volunteers an overall picture and an idea of who does what.

With the use of volunteers we want to enrich and expand the educational offers in our kindergarten by cross-cultural diversity and non-formal learning experiences. The volunteers play the main role with their individual requirements, (life)-experiences and abilities.

Next to the task to support the team, each volunteer get the opportunity, the time and the space to implement her/his own project with a selected group of children. Depending on the interests and abilities of the volunteer, this project can be settled in the area of arts, sports, games or learning.

Children in kindergarten age who learn to adjust to a caregiver with a new language and culture, acquire very specific experience and knowledge of a foreign culture, which enable them to build acceptance for other cultures and perceive the stranger as an enrichment.

Through contact of the volunteers to parents, grandparents and siblings of the children and through the cooperation of the volunteers in the design of parent-teacher conferences and celebrations, the target group of projects can extend immense. We support the volunteers in preparing their presentations and arguments to achieve a fruitful and critical discussion on European issues.

The volunteers learn that they play an important role with their innate skills, give parts of it to the children and thus affect actively the social and educational development of the children.
But they learn also that they are not at the center with their culture and their values, but are a part of a sensitive pattern, in which in everyday life repeatedly need again to arrange, to respect and to find a way of living together.
