Resumo: The family centre is located at the outskirts of the little spa town with 3000 inhabitants in the north-east of thuringia, well known through salt, spa and wine. A lot of people live from spa guests and tourism. The town is surrounded by hills, vineyards, fields and forests.The cities Erfurt and Weimar, where all kind of entertainment and lifestyle can be found, can be reached easily by train in 10/30 minutes.The volunteers flat in Apolda can be reached by train in 10 minutes.

All local trains go each hour. We provide for the volunteer a monthly ticket for the train. We provide to all volunteers a discount card (50%) for all german railways (for mobility in Germany) and a bicycle (for mobility in the region).

Perfil: For us, the ideas and visions of the volunteers are in the foreground.
The volunteers should have the strong will and motivation to work with children, adolescents, parents or families, and ideas.

So we hope to learn more about the interests of each individual candidate and to get a better basis for the design of the project.

An important criterion is that the volunteers are gifted artistically or sporty and have very good knowledge of their own culture (history, games, songs, dances, etc) as this should be taught to children, adolescents, parents or families.

We would like to work with each potential sending organization, as we expect more partnerships. The most important criterion in the selection of volunteers is the compliance of the volunteers profile with the profile of the project.

Tarefas: While assisting the pedagogic staff the volunteers learn how to work with children, adolescents, parents or families. Through monitoring of the activities the volunteers gain knowledge and skills for example in planning, preparing and organizing educational events, holiday camps, sports competitions, meetings and other local festivals / events. Basically, we foster the volunteers to learn the language. We support our volunteers to get to know the German culture and way of life through regular participating in meetings and events.

The volunteers will assist the teaching staff in the Family Center during everyday tasks. We expect that volunteers can help in these areas. Of course, we provide support, but the will to work and to implement ideas should be one of the characteristics of the volunteers. We want all the volunteers to reflect what they do, how it supports their goals, and how that meets their individual plans and ideas.

During the first month we focus on learning the language, learning about the environment and the activities and the daily routine. Therefore, we present a small list of easy tasks to enable an easy start of the volunteers. These tasks have a wide spectrum and allow them at their own pace to see how everything goes.

The volunteers will be asked to create a presentation about their home country and of themselves. Furthermore the whole team is presented to the volunteers. This gives the volunteers an overall picture and an idea of who does what.
