Resumo: The office is in the city will be the main working place for the volunteer.
A city with its 385.000 inhabitants the biggest Swiss city. More than 1.1 Million people are living in the agglomeration. The city is the most important economical, scientific and social centre of Switzerland. For several years has been listed with the highest life quality and costs of life in the same time.
The good access to nature and the fact that the Alps are not very far either plus the diverse cultural environment offer a variaty of free time and recreation activities. Public transport in the city is very well organized and easy to use.
The volunteer will be hosted in a host family where he/she will be provided with food. According to the organization principles, host families are also seen as participants – they host because they want to open their home to someone from another country and thus get to know the world a bit better. The volunteer should be flexible and tolerant in order to be able to accept the individual structures and rules of his or her host family.
Tarefas: • Organization and conduction of events in cooperation with staff and volunteers (partents’ evening, trainings for volunteers, orientation und reorientation camps, fairs, information events, selections of participants etc.)
• adressing new target groups, public relations and fundraising
• collecting, developing and implementing new material of global and intercultural learning in all fields of the organization.
He/she will have the possibility to take part in the preparation, implementation and post processing of such activities mentioned above and thus get to know the different steps that are necessary for realising such projects (for example how to a present or how to communicate within international working groups etc.).
On the numerous events and seminars, the volunteer will be in profound contact with the respective local communities. He or she gains a deep inside in differents ways of life in Switzerland. As the volunteer lives in a host family. This personal contact will enable him to experience the family’s culture and have contacts outside the workplace. This leads to intensive reflection about yourself, on both sides.
All administrative tasks and project work for the EVS participant are balanced.
The volunteer will mainly work from Monday to Friday (five days a week). The total working time is limited to 42 hours per week including the attendance of language courses. He/she will have his/ her own working place and there will be regular team meetings as well. If there are activities during the weekend the volunteer participates in, He/she will be able to take those days off during the week in order to compensate. During his/ her stay the volunteer is entitled to 20 days of holidays per year.
The office is further closed between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
