Resumo: The organisation is based in a city of Lithuania (750 000 inhabitants) just 20 minutes by bus from the city centre and 40 minutes by bus from main railway and couch station. Bus links are wonderful. Bus stops next to organisation and there are 4 different busses going to the centre. There is big shopping centre 7 minutes walk. There are a lot of leisure activities and some marvellous parks in the city.
Our organisation is in sleeping areawhere most people live. There are a lot of schools around but not so many places where pupils can go after the school. So they spend time in the streets, begin to use alcohol or drugs. Also there are no community centres where people could come and communicate with each other.
Perfil: In our organisation all volunteers are welcome who are highly motivated to commit concrete period of their lives for the sake of help to weaker members of society. The most important is that the volunteer wouldn't be afraid of the target group they are going to work with (kids and youth with challenging behaviour and disabled people). We are able to host volunteers older than 18 years.
We are ready to cooperate with all responsible organisations, especially with NGO's working with disadvantaged youth.
Our organisation is ready to provide the youth with fewer opportunities with special support for the volunteer in terms of psychological, counselling or individual personal support which would be provided by the social centre's staff. The volunteers with fewer opportunities will have professional tutor who has been the volunteer herself and now works as social worker in the centre. That should be helpful to empathise with the volunteer's needs.
