Resumo: This is an organisation in which people are involved who are experienced in the European program Youth. In general organises activities for young people and people that work with and for young people. We do activities like exchanges, international volunteer work, seminars, creative workshops, expositions and education on schools. In almost all the activities the organization is working on the awareness of the European thought and social integration. To make all the activities possible the town is working together with a lot of organisations in the town and in the region, the North of Holland.

The town is a small city in the Northwest of the Netherlands. Almost 30 percent of the 60.000 inhabitants are working for the Dutch navy. Because we are a centre for the surrounding villages we have all city facilities like a hospital, several libraries and lot of bars. The town is quite known for its long beaches, fresh air and coastal nature. From th town you can take a boat to the islands in the Waddenzee or go by train to Amsterdam (1 hour).

The volunteer will comfortably stay in the eurohouse. He/She will stay there with other evs-volunteers. Each volunteer has his private bedroom, all the other spaces, living room, toilet, shower, kitchen & terrace are common (shared) spaces. In the same building is the gallery, info point and the office. In the whole building there is 24hr wireless internet available. As our Eurohouse is located in the middle of the city centre of the town all facilities a youngster might need are within walking distance.

We provide the volunteer with a bicycle for local transportation and a library card. Payment of pocket and food money on a weekly basis. Working hours - +/- 32 hours a week. Standard free days, 12 each six months. Not including the two trainings from the Dutch national agency.

Perfil: * It would be nice when the volunteer can speak the English language;
* The volunteer should be enthusiastic to work with foreign people (open minded);
* The volunteer is interested in working with multi media and art;
* It would be nice to have someone who is socially skilled;
* We look for someone with a high state of self activity.

Selection:
We try to offer all young people, who are interested to work in our organization, a place in one of the projects. Even though we have a preference for projects from 9 months to 1 year we are willing to change this for a volunteer into a shorter term. Also the aforementioned profile is not fixed. If a volunteer for example does not speak English we try to motivate this person to do a language course. The volunteer then can take part in the project.

Profile / interests
We inform the volunteers way ahead the start of the project. In the last weeks before coming to our organization the future volunteers have e-mail contact with the current volunteers. All and all the volunteer gets a lot of information on the content of the project and the board and lodging arrangements. We hope that informing our volunteers in this way will make them aware of how the project really is and in what extend that matches with their expectations.

Skills:
The only skill that is really required, is open midness and the willingness to learn.

Job substitution:
We are the organization which is taking care of the evs-projects. We are in constant contact with our volunteers. If they feel exploited in any way we will discuss it and, when needed and possible, change the project.

Tarefas: The volunteer is working in a very active and flexible foundation. Despite there is a project description the volunteer will have a lot of personal freedom. This means that there is enough space for a personal project besides the fixed activities.
The volunteer works on the organization of a just started gallery / Go Europe bureau. The gallery is open for young artists from the Netherlands and the rest of Europe. By offering young artists a stage to show their art we hope to contribute to the evolution of contemporary art. Art is an important way of expression for young people and we think that the gallery can be a stimulating place for local youth. The volunteer will participate in the whole process of organizing expositions and promoting our gallery.
In the same building as the gallery we have a Go Europe bureau. In fact the gallery is a symbiosis between art and information. With the Go Europe bureau we want to inform local youth on their possibilities in Europe. The volunteer is responsible for the practical part of this bureau. This means that he or she will be working there for three days a week to approach and inform visitors of our gallery on European activities.
Besides the work in the gallery the volunteer will be also active in an information project on local high schools. The project called 'Schools Out', aims at students between 15 and 18. In one lesson of an hour our evs-volunteers together with local volunteers inform the students about EVS, youth exchanges and youth initiatives. They do this in an active and informal way. The success of this project is in the fact that youth informs youth and that our volunteers are the best example of EVS in action.
Next to all aforementioned activities we offer our volunteers the chance to take part in our exchanges.

All and all a busy project with various activities. However our opinion is that the biggest thrill is not the work itself but the project as a whole experience.
