Resumo: The association works with a high personal commitment and without any state or city finance support to offer art and culture for all people regardless of social and cultural backround. The main activity is culture- and art education. The street festival is free to attend. Our work and philosophy is based on an open, democratic and a social mind. The office is located in the old Kuenstlerhaus Bethanien, the city today it is a multicultural district and at the time a international tourist magnet. Here there are many socially deprived, living side by side, Hartz4 receiver, migrants, artists, and high earners. We cooperate with socio-cultural projects, which also provide for cultural exchange between Germans and immigrants from the neighborhood, school theatre, and environmental education. In 2008, we also have a multi-cultural festival conducted in a partner district of Kreuzberg in Istanbul Kadikoy. Our work and projects are directed to all age groups.
Individual projects such as youth exchanges and theatre projects are aimed specifically at young people. So far we have recorded three volunteers. Two persons 12 months out of Turkey and one person from France seven months. We could learn together, what the EVS means in practice. Each participant could reaches after the service their aims and has continued its way into Germany.
As a team leader for youth meetings, as a drama student and the other as a language teacher and workers of a youth development project. We are very confident of this program and therefore we apply again as a host organization.
Perfil: The volunteer should be at least 18 years old. English or German skills are an advantage but not essential. If it is necessary we will arrange intensive language courses. The most important is the interest in cultural work and independent and responsible work ethic. We are a small association but very active. There are team meetings where tasks, issues and ideas will be discussed. The volunteer should be flexible and respond to changes in problem solutions. He should be physically fit and resilient. Enough leisure will be guaranteed, but cultural events require concentration times and extreme situations.
According to certain criteria and internal requirements candidates will be selected. However, we also get on the recommendation other applications outside the network. Most of the candidates bring a sending organization. So we came good like this deal in the past. But we also have informed us in advance.
Tarefas: With our wide range of activities, we can offer a diverse range of learning processes in the field of event organization and development of cultural activities. Our annual International Street Theatre Festival goes through each step of the implementation of a major event. Preparation, implementation and evaluation: including concept design, costing, logistics planning, programming, design, outdoor advertising, press relations, technical planning, artist relations and decorations.
In addition, we are always interested to develop new event concepts. After consultation with the volunteer we ask for his interests and ideas. For us, it makes sense of enhanced programming and events implementation. For this he has the ability to organize its own stage and the greatest possible freedom of their own ideas.
A new field of work of the association is to build a school and a clown ensemble in the city. The volunteer could take priority in this segment as an assistant position. It will be thus incorporated into the organizational work. This means communication with students, develop content, develop lesson plans, networking with other cultural sites in the city and abroad, acquisition teachers and marketing. In the field clown ensemble he has a supporting role for artists and tour management.
