Resumo: Our program of European voluntary service is designed the way it offers young volunteers a wide spectrum of different activities, that they all go through, so that they get to know the basics of youth work and their interests. Volunteers later on decide upon this newly acquired knowledge in what field they really want to participate. That's why we never request any special skills because we want volunteers to develop these special skills here with us. Since we educate and guide our local youth through a similar process, we actually look for young people without any experience, who will be able to gather experience in the secure process of youth work. Most typical activities our volunteers participate in mostly are cooperation in organizing youth workshops in schools and kindergartens, helping organizing cultural activities (concerts, presenting different cultures,…), creation of media content (TV shows, films, publishing a newspaper, working on the radio).

The volunteers have many opportunities to get to know our culture during interactions with the youth in our Youth centre, but their contribution is even bigger, if they can take part in activities in other organisations. Volunteers were hosted by almost all primary and secondary schools in Zasavje region (3 secondary schools and 6 primary schools), kindergarten and at regional organisations that are somehow involved in youth work.

We encourage volunteers to take special interest in personal projects, whether they are short-term or long-term volunteers. In the first month(s) the volunteers get to know MCT, the environment and the activities so thy can easier get an idea of what they want to do. So far personal projects ranged from publishing a newspaper, booklet, short movie, sports tournament, ecological project, internet project and similar. We encourage the volunteers to leave a part of themselves in MCT with their personal project. If possible, we look forward, that young people from the local environment take part in its creation because it is the best way for a volunteers to get in contact with others.

Condições: Our program is available over the internet database, and in addition to this we publish news and vacancies on our webpage www.mct.si. We are also part of several internet groups, where we introduce ourselves but also look for suitable candidates and partners for such projects. Young volunteers, who apply to our programme, usually apply by sending a short CV and a motivational letter. We also ask them to fill out a short internal application form, contacts and other needed data that they usually don't enter into their motivational letter or CV - such as questions about family relations, how they solve problems, what they do during weekends and such.
