Resumo: Our house is located in the inner town(about 40.000 inhabitants). Is the central town in north west of Germany; 25 KM to the north you'll be at the North Sea, 40 KM to the west there is the border to the Netherlands. Owner of our house is an association - members are private people but also communities around..
Perfil: Our offer is made for young open minded people who would like to get new experiences in a foreign country. All the time there will be new people in our seminars who they might not be able to speak English, therefore the volunteer will need good competences in communication and at least a basic knowledge of German language.
Also in dealing with new IT there should be some knowledge and experience. We are open for cooperation with former, but also with new partner organisations and we'd like to bring in our wide experiences in international work.
Tarefas: In our project Youngster for Europe - Europe for Youngsters we'd like to encourage young people to recognize and to act on behalf of their own interests. According to this the transboundary European dimension is very important. In our international meetings we've experienced that the cooperation with young people from another European country gives us new and very authentic impulses for our cooperative work. We will organize a good cooperation with two young persons who are doing a (national) voluntary ecologic year at our house. Cross border co-operation promotes the attempt to strengthen and improve the relations among different nations and cultures and their life together. Our goal comes into reach when course participants can experience a climate of solidarity and support on a small scale and work together in surroundings of tolerance and togetherness.
We are really convinced, that young people who are doing European Voluntary Service will help a lot to achieve our goals.
Mainly the volunteer will help to prepare and to go through seminars (national and international) with topics like participating, xenophobia and environmental issues (65%).
Cooperation with voluntary evological year (FÖJ) and helping to design and support the ecologically-minded yard and other supporting activities will take about 35% of the whole time.
Beside that we'd appreciate if the voluteer could keep up international contacts and make new ones especially to the new membercountries of European Union.
At the beginning of EVS there will be mainly the following issues: Talking about mutual expectations, getting an idea about work of an educational centre, getting to know the daily work, take over some responsibility in seminars according to knowledge and experience of the volunteer. Searching for information about special topics (like environment or new media) which are important in the work of the organization. Getting knowledge about renewable energy (Europes largest company producing wind turbines is situated in the town) or about the National Park Waddensea might be both interesting and necessary. Taking part in cross border projects and in language courses will be helpful. Besides that we expect the volunteer to work in Europe-direct-Info-Relais which is installed at the organization since May 2005.
