Resumo: The town has a little over 100,000 inhabitants and is situated between Munich and Stuttgart and since it has an ICE railway station it is easy to be travelled to and from. The town has an important function for the 80 km region surrounding it: it is the centre for education, work and freetime activities.
Some thousand students commute daily between the town and their local communities.

The place is a large town but not a city. Living in this place is easy to manage and has a charming atmosphere with its historical centre (the so-called Fishermen's Quarter).

The town is 161 meters high and is the centre. The people of the town are proud of their church spire which is still the highest in the world. They are tolerant, they like their town and care about it. This can be seen from a variety of cultural and social clubs in which a lot of citizens are involved and which make up a part of place's colorful life.

This town with a rich history of which you can find traces everywhere, for example for the history of German industrialization. There are still remnants of old industrial branches, as for example the vehicle construction industry which has fed and still feeds a lot of people here, e.g. there is a large truck and a large bus construction company.

Moreover, in recent years the town has become known as science town since there is a lot of research going on in the field of telecommunication. Consequently, a lot of companies have been established in this area.

Also has a large university at which you can study medicine, the natural sciences and a lot of technical subjects as for example engineering, automotive engineering and electronics.

Perfil: Some practical experience in youthwork is helpful, as well as some experience in voluntary work.
Because of its Christian principals of our organization we look for a person who is open minded and interested to this theme
Basic knowledge in German is helpful, but with appropriate motivation it is not inconclusively necessary
We look for a sociable and open-minded personality

Tarefas: Fields of learning and services for our volunteers:
In the host organization, the volunteer works together with a team of full-time employees.

Experience has taught us that for the new volunteers working in our cafe is the best opportunity to get to know our young honorary employees and the young clients. This usually helps to overcome language difficulties.

At the beginning, the volunteer has clear-cut duties which helps him/her to become secure about the new job. Later, he/she can also take over further duties from the full-time employees. The volunteer also takes part in the educational program of our association, depending on his/her previous knowledge either as a participant or as a co-worker. There, we teach social competences and pedagogical concepts that are relevant to group work.

The role of the volunteer:
The volunteer is integrated as a fully-fledged member of our team. The volunteer works in our so-called year-team which is composed of the young men doing their civilian service, volunteers who are doing a gap year (usually taken between school and studies/apprenticeship to do voluntary work in the social sector) and international volunteers.

Possible activities:
The volunteer might offer projects to the young people in our cafe (e.g. language courses, planning of cultural events, playing opportunities,...) What he/she wants to offer depends on the individual experiences.

The organization engages itself in an alliance against right-wing political activities. Here, the volunteer can also participate in the different activities.

During recreational holiday camps, the volunteer can take care of children, he/she can plan, execute and evaluate programs for the children.

The volunteer helps to popularize the EVS program here. He/she might for example offer events so that he/she can inspire young people here in the town to the EFD.
