Resumo: The town is located in the south-western part of Macedonia and has population of about 122.173 inhabitants. The town is bordering with Greece (EU member country). It is the regional, economic, administrative, cultural and university centre of south-western Macedonia. During the past there were a number of prestigious schools in the city, including a military academy that, among others, was attended by the famous Turkish reformer Kemal AtatA1rk. There is a number of cultural institutions as well, like the oldest and most prestigious theatres in the country. The town is the organizer of the Manaki Brothers international cinematographers’ festival, devoted to the work of the first film cameraman in the Balkans. Traditionally a strong trading centre, the city is also known as the city of the consuls.

In any case the presence of foreign diplomatic agencies in the town undoubtedly meant the presence of Europe in the town. The tradition of opening diplomatic consular agencies in the town continues even nowadays. Honorary consulates have been opened by the France, Turkey, United Kingdom, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Romania, Montenegro, Croatia, Bulgaria and Greece.

The host organization is organization in the city and our aim is to promote local volunteering. We have project with folowing public institutions where local volunteers participate via vounteering in these institutions. The EVS volunteer will be part of those projects tougether with the local volunteer in the organization.

According by resent researching, the percent of the young people in the city that are volunteering is small. We believe that if we motivate young people between 18 and 30 to volunteer we can contribute for future economical development of the region and the country. We also want to motivate young people for the city and abroad to volunteer so they can get non-formal education, communicational skills, better language skills, in this way they can fulfil their free time, with these kinds of activities volunteers can make better everyday life of the citizens and above all, the young people by volunteering can contribute for local community. EVS volunteers will bring additional value for this project because together with local volunteers will work towards the aims of promoting volunteering, voluntary work and will be example in the local comunity.

The volunteers will be accommodated in a specially rented flat for them, having individual rooms, common kitchen and bathroom. In this way they are having a possibility to share time together during eating and non-formal gatherings, but to have privacy at the same time. The volunteers will receive money every month in order to buy and cook the food themselves. It is possible that the volunteers would prefer to cook all together - like that gathering together during eating and having family-like atmosphere. All volunteers will have a possibility to use the office of the organisation situated in the city centre, which has two rooms equipped for comfortable working conditions.

Perfil: Concerning our projects we are mainly working with our partner organizations for already three years. All calls for EVS we are publishing on our web pages, social networks and on pages that promote volunteerism. For long term volunteering we wish that the volunteer shows interest in the project and that he/she develops the dynamics of the project. We are interested to host a volunteer being able to bring a value to the project, working team and also inhabitants of the district. Also:
-the volunteer should accomplish the tasks;
-the volunteers should show interest for the activities;
-the volunteer should be able to communicate with the children and the employees;
-the volunteer does not have to have any particular skill or qualification;
-she/he must however be able to express himself /herself and make himself /herself understood in the English language, although linguistic training will be provided to support the placement.

Tarefas: The volunteer will be working together with local volunteer where our projects are implementing. According to his profile, interests, skills, the volunteer will have activities from 10:00 till 17:00 in the host organization where the volunteer will have chance to work on local activities that the organization has and also the volunteer will have chance to develop his/her own projects. The volunteers will be active about 30 - 35 hours a week from Monday to Friday. The language lessons will be included to the working hours and provided by a young person, former EVS volunteer from the town.

Saturday and Sunday will be free days. If volunteers have to work during weekends, they can take these days off during the following working days. Besides, the volunteer will have 2 days of holidays per month. As organisation is a volunteer organisation flexibility is asked from the young participant, sometime the working schedule will be on evening and week end and it' s not necessary possible to plan it in advance.
