Resumo: The organization is situated in the heart of Denmark, on the outskirts of historic, Denmarks largest seaport.
The school lies next to the sea in very beautiful natural surroundings. It was founded over 90 years ago and has kept pace with developments in modern education, with
information technology playing an important part.
At the organization you have spectacular views of the sea from almost everywhere. The bedrooms are all really cosy. Each has a handbasin and personal wardrobe. Showers and toilets are shared with other students.
You can choose to stay in a single room if you prefer - or have the company of a fellow student in a double room.
It´s charming and spacious buildings house two complementary school forms, a traditional Danish Folk High School and a specialised preparatory school for international students.
A stay at the organizationcan help you to develop your skills and abilities for your working life, and at the same time give you many enjoyable personal and social experiences.
There are no entry or leaving examinations in this school.
The length of a course ranges from two to five months and starts in January and in August.
Everybody can come to this organization, although you must be at least 17½ years old and have a reasonable level of English.
At present the school has the following primary subjets:
1. Musical Base Camp
2. Film Base Camp
3. Theatre Base Camp
4. Global Base Camp
5. Youth Education Base Camp
Perfil: The volunteer must be mature, open-minded and able to work based on his/her own initiative.
We would prefere a person with a good command of spoken and written English language..
Volunteers with a good knowledge of computer technology and communication will be preferred, but other cultural skills will be important assets.
Volunters with a interest in globalisation are also wellcome.
Tarefas: The volunteers will be a part of the special fellowship which you find on a folk high school.
He/she will participate in our Danish courses, and through the entire stay the staff will help and support the volunteer whenever needed.
As some of the students at the school combine their stay with a visit to another country, the most important task for the volunteer is to create an interculturel environment at the school. This could be done through informal cultural activities, dancing classes, language classes, etc.
The volunteer will also work with our IT manager and the students in order to create a computer environment which meets the individual cultural requirements of the students.
The volunteer is highly incoraged to document life at the school and publish the documentation nationally as well as internationally.
There will be plenty of opportunity for new initiatives and for the volunteers to create their own activities.
If the volunteer has specific creative skills he/she will also be very welcome to create practical projects using those skills.
As the programme is quite intensive, there are often activities at the High School in the weekends. If the volunteer works during the weekend, he will have time off at an other time during the week.
The average working hours per day will be about 6 hours.
Lodging and boarding:
The volunteer will be lodged at the high school where he/she will either have his/her own room or share a room with another volunteer. There will be shared toilet and bath facilities.
The local association chapter will arrange a weekend host family for the volunteer. He will eat at the school together with the students and the staff.
The volunteer will be invited to social events arranged by the association´s local chapters together with other volunteers, exchange students and host families.
