Resumo: The varied and magnificent landscape of the region reaches from the North Sea to the Limfjord. In the middle, you'll find the town, a town of culture, with art on practically every street corner, musical theatre, museums and much more. The town area has a lot to choose from, including the peace and quiet of nature, cultural experiences and a number of outdoor activities, such as swimming and water sports, horseback riding and biking. The Municipality has approximately 57,170 inhabitants and covers an area of 80.000 hectares.

Host family
AFS will provide a host family for the volunteer. The life in a host family will facilitate the integration in the local community and will accelerate the process of both language and intercultural learning.

The volunteer will be invited to social events arranged by the AFS's local chapters together with other volunteers, excange students and host falilies.

Perfil: The project is open to everyone; however, volunteers with a high level of English will be preferred.

We are very flexible concerning the profile of the volunteer. He/she may have a background/interest in psychiatry, social work, nursery, catering or culture; however, the most important requirement is that the volunteer has both empathy and the understanding of dealing with mentally vulnerable people.

Tarefas: The volunteer will get insight in all aspects of operating a café. Moreover, he/she will get knowledge about people with mental diseases and get a deeper understanding on how to engage with them. The volunteer will also learn about social/economic organisations and the benefit they provide to the greater community.

The volunteer will work alongside the staff in various areas depending on the background, education and interest of the particular volunteer.

Activities could include waiting on tables, assisting in the kitchen, general maintenance in the café and office work, but there will also be plenty of opportunities to make his own activities such as organising different kinds of events.
