Resumo: the project takes place in Niort, prefecture of the department of Deux-Sèvres. Niort is a city about 60 000 inhabitants situated in the western center of France. It is in 63 km from La Rochelle (city situated at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean), 77 km from Poitiers and in 410 km from Paris (2:30 am of train).

Niort is known to welcome the head office of the main French mutual insurance companies of insurance. It is a human-sized city in the heart of a rural department.

The volunteer will be welcomed within the center an association which works on the north terrirtoire of the city, near the city center. The organization organizes activities to the various generations: children, young people, adults, families … The association welcomes a very diverse public among whom certain persons having social, financial difficulties, occupational integration …

The concept is simple. It is enough to formulate an offer and\or a demand of knowledge. As soon as an exchange can be envisaged, that is an offer of a person corresponds to a request of another person or another group of persons, a getting in touch is proposed and the conditions relative to this exchange are decided.

Perfil: We want to welcome young people motivated to put a lot into our association on the long term and also capable of living in corent. We welcome generally the young people for 10 in 12 months. We make the selection essentially on the motivation and the objectives of the young person for its SVE.

However, it is preferable that the young person has knowledge in computing and is capable of introducing the other persons. It would be great that the young person has linguistic bases in French and that he feels comfortable to work with a public adult, rather heterogeneous.

Concerning the procedure of selection, when we (L’Escale/ Maison de L’Europe) receive applications of young people interested in the project of the CSC, we answer them systematically to say to them where we are in the selection there. We settle, in house, a period in the course of which we keep(guard) all the applications(candidacies) of the young people (generally 2 in 3 months before the deadline). By return of e-mail, we send to the young person an application file which we prepared and ask him(her) to fill it and to send back it to us before the deadline. In this file, a part is to fill by the sending strucutre what allows us to verify that the young person is good in touch with her and to know the kind of activity of this one. In the deadline , we enclose applications and we study these according to the application file, to the CV and to the letter of presentation of the young person. The team of the House of Europe makes a first selection and the final choice is made in agreement with both guardians of the CSC. Once the young selected player, we put ourselves in touch with him and his structure of sending to prepare the project. We do not choose the young person according to his struture of sending but according to his profile and to his motivations.

Tarefas: The volunteer will work on two sectors: the Network of Echanges Reciproques de Savoirs (Mutual Exchanges of Knowledges) (RER)((REGIONAL EXPRESS NETWORKS)) and the computing workshops.

The public concerned by this project is essentially a public adult having, for some, social and relational difficulties. It is a service accessible to every person interested about it, whatever its age, its social, professional or cultural origin.

The principle is to exchange its knowledges and to learn those from the others without financial counterpart. The network works in opened reciprocity, that is it is possible to receive a knowledge of another person than the one to whom we look.

Example: I know how to play the guitar, I propose courses(prices) of guitar. I do not know how to cook, I ask for cooking courses .
Example of exchanged knowledges: foreign language or French, basketwork, flower arranging, creation of jewels, drawing, cooking(kitchen), singing(song),dance
With RER, the tasks of the volunteer will be the following ones:
- Participate in the animation of the network: follow the offers and the demands, organize the exchanges, communicate on the activities of the network, welcome the public …
- Administrative tasks: registration forms, schedule of activity of rooms, photos of workshops …
- Propose activities and actions to become known and share his own culture.
- Participate in the exchanges of knowledges: the volunteer can himself propose his knowledges and receive from it.
Informatique workshop
It is a question of introducing adults, who make it the demand in the IT tool. In this frame there, the volunteer will have for tasks of:
- Prepare and liven up(lead) the computing workshop (word, Excel, powerpoint, Internet) in binomial with an animator of the CSC and if he(it) feels capable of preparing and of livening up(leading) studios(workshops) in autonomy afterward
- Propose computing training courses during the school holidays on more specific themes: treatment of photos numerics, videos …
Besides these two specific missions, the volunteer will participate in the general activities of the association and can help in the preparation and in the organization of actions such as the block party, the Christmas celebration, the out party…
He will also have the possibility of leading a personal project according to his needs and his hobbies.

The volunteer will work 35 hours a week among which 3 hours of French course which will be given by volunteers within the framework of RER. He will have 2 days off a month which must be mainly taken during the French school holidays (zone B).
The volunteer will be accommodated in a residence young housing environment of the coordinating L’Escale/ Maison de L’Europe association in a shared apartment. He can benefit from all the services of the association in particular from the animations proposed by L’Escale.

He will receive a monthly sum besides his allowance to manage his meals.
