Resumo: The Foundation of Polish–German Reconciliation is engaged in preserving the memory of the victims of the Second World War, initiates and supports the dialogue within society and works on the international reconciliation and understanding. To come up to this we cooperate with a lot of volunteers from all around Europe. An integral part of the volunteers activity are our local, polish volunteers. Due to the social character of their work, which aims to support Nazi victims in their daily life, a major part of their activity consists of external work.
Perfil: We do not have any particular requirements regarding education or certain knowledge of people who want to be volunteers in the Foundation. We would like to host people who are friendly, like to establish new contacts, are open-minded and responsible. Helpful would be the knowledge of the Polish or German language. Especially persons interested in humanities will feel comfortable here.
Tarefas: be a contact partner for polish volunteers assist polish volunteers in their social activities motivate them to continue volunteering organize educational workshops organize history lessons organize meetings and common workshops with the elderly organize free time activities regularly, such as: museum visits, concerts, cultural events etc. encourage partnership between volunteers promote EVS within local community, eg. volunteers, schools, universities promote the year 2011 as European Year of Volunteering. The volunteers are very well integrated in our work. They participate in current tasks and projects. Besides of that they are encouraged to realize their own ideas. Some volunteers come here with definite plans and expectations they want to fulfill. They collect material for their thesis, write articles for newspapers or are networking with organizations of their home countries. We do encourage those actions and they can rely on our support. Together with each volunteer, we look for interesting, exciting and of course useful tasks corresponding to his or her skills, expectations and interests. The work in the foundation is very diverse, ranging from meetings with people, social work, work in the archive, translations of texts, about the organization of exhibitions, conferences or journeys. Therefore the young volunteers are able to learn a lot. They have an opportunity to get to know our country, language, people and history. They learn how to act independently, gain social abilities, get the knowledge of the work in a non-governmental organization and get experience in collecting information, mail-conducting, contacting administration bodies, international organizations and private persons. The volunteers can experience in how far their actions pay off for our cause or for needy persons. They sense satisfaction and gain self-confidence. Being asked what they appreciate the most, they often answer that the work had widened their historical perce
Condições: Our volunteers live in flats on their own, if possible with a person who speaks polish, for quicken a better acclimatization. The central location is very convenient for our volunteers, because they have an easy access to different attractions and entertainment. Nearby are a lot of museums, for instance the national museum of Poland, but as well cultural institutions, galleries, community centers, theatres and other entertainment facilities. Within the framework of different projects, as well as in their leisure time, volunteers have the opportunity to get to travel to other regions of Poland and to learn the specific character and culture of our country.
