Resumo: The aim of our institution is to help those who are not able to help themselves. We work with persons with special needs who live in small sharing communities together (6-8 persons) as well as with persons who live in our home for old people. We attend to these persons from dusk to down (dressing, shopping, cooking, going for walks, going to church, cleaning, free time activities etc.). In Gallneukirchen we have 9 houses for people with special needs. These have respectively 2, 4, 6 or 8 units. In the units live 4 to 9 persons who are taken care of by one or two employers. All together about 700 employers work at our institution in Gallneukirchen. In the old people´s home takes care for 40 persons. In all our houses of our institution in Austria we have about 2700 employers. Project Environment: The volunteers will be working and living in Gallneukirchen (ca. 7000 inhabitants), approximately 10 km from the regional capital of Linz in Upper Austria. The accommodation includes a single room with a shower, the toilette and the kitchen have to be shared. During the working time they get a meal of the working place in the other time they have voucher for eat. There is bus connection to Linz. The bus go every one or two hours. Gallneukirchen is about 10 km from Linz and is surrounded by hills. We have also a indoor swimming pool, an open air pool, and also many things for fitness sports. Perfil: Profile: nice person with understanding for people with special needs, and understanding of German is not bad ;-),

Tarefas: Proposed Activities - Learning opportunities: The volunteers will have the opportunity to attend a German course. They will attend weekly internal course in sozial work and community service (Sep. - May) too. Role of EVS volunteers: The volunteers will primarity act as initiators of own ideas and abilities for the activities with the people but also in helping the people with dressing, shopping, cooking, going for walks, going to church, cleaning etc.. They will have the opportunity to introduce their country by cooking especially dishes or bringing in ideas. So the activities will depend from the volunteers too! Any idea is welcome! - Involvement: Assisting in dressing, shopping, cleaning, planning of free time activities (playing, going for cinema, singing, special games, language course with people…) of our clients etc. (see aims of the institution). For example the work hours will be 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or from 12:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The volunteers will work two weekends a month. The work the have to do depends on the time of the day. And volunteer should involve him-/herself for 100% as we want to realize your ideas and interests in the organisation!
