Resumo: Each branch of the City Public Library is a hive of activity and a great place for the local community to meet, learn new things and have the use of many facilities. Library is a place full of books- but for sure not boring! Public Libraries offer more than just books, for example: children’s programs, workshops and many interesting events for local communities.

Library is an institution, where volunteers can spend time and work with people in every age and different nationalities, who are coming there as guests. Library consists of 22 branches, which are situated in different districts, but volunteers will work mainly in two branches.

The aim of the library is to meet cultural needs of the society.
Main actions concern groups of people socially and culturally excluded – in terms of not equal access to social and cultural goods, where society is rather poor (in both financial and cultural way), where dominates passiveness among people.

Therefore library prepares workshops with local artists and social workers, reading aloud, making illustrations with kids, lessons how to use book resources, how to search information in internet and books, English lessons for young and older people – equalizing opportunities, dancing workshops, theatre workshops, photo workshops, art workshops.

Perfil: - The volunteer should be interested in methods of active education, open for people from other countries and cultures and willing to co-operate and work in group.
- S/he should be open-minded. We are searching for young people, who would contribute to the actions taken by the library and would like to develope his/her personality.
- the volunteer has basic English language skills and is willing to study Polish.

Tarefas: EVS Volunteer will support employers of the library in actions taken by them, daily tasks, so the opportunities include helping with:

. working with patrons (no age limits – guests of library are children at the age of 6 to 14 as well as seniors),
•preparing and conducting different activities for groups of children and youth (learning through fun)
•preparing and conducting workshops for families
•organizing special events (book-exchange picnic)
•using the computers, which are at the library
•keeping our materials and buildings of library in good shape •working with books, CDs, and other library materials
•labelling,
•creating displays,
•planning and presenting programs,
•books and shelves maintaining
