Resumo: MONAliesA is a women´s library, who will take part on the European "Youth in action"-programme for the first time. During the last years we focus our work and projects more and more on European issues. We are a member of the umbrella organization "i.d.a." and therfore we have many contacts to other feminist libraries and archieves in other European countries.
Since several years we are in collaboration with the feminist foundation efKA in Kraków, Poland. Together we realized a project about women who experienced forced migration at the end of the Second World War and for 2012/2013 we are planning a learning partnership.
As a result of the increasing importance of a European networking the volunteer will have the opportunity to develop new skills, to gain new experiences and all in all ultimately to widen our horizons.
Especially in the domain of international cultural work the volunteer is a real asset to the team. She or he can acquaint us with cultural and social-cultural differences, e.x. communication. In exchanging experiences we get more familiar with different European lifeworlds and can therfore develop an European solidarity.
The responsibilities of the volunteer will include topics dealing with European issues. (It is being considered an involvement in the European Workshop, researchings for the queer-feminist archive, network with other feminist libraries or an exhibition about "Women in Europe".) For our visitors and users it is enriching to have someone from abroard with her/his own special experiences.
Last but not least working in our organisation has many andvantages for the volunteer. She/he can make new experieneces, develop her/his range of options of action or learn a new language and can take all these new qualities back to her/his country. As a result of this exchange is an acquaintance with cultural specifics, but also a mediation about European issues, that is based on personal interchange.

Additionally the volunteer gains experiences in project management. He/she can train their social and communicative comepetences through consultation and visitor support. Another work area is portfolio treatment, where he/she gains knowledge of gender studies, feminism, women in art, politics and media as well as womens history and queer theory.
For us it is very important to respond to the volunteer and his/hers abilities, so that he/she can tap their full potential. The main tasks of the volunteer are: loan, portfolio treatment, visitor support, event organisation, public relation and networking. To incorporate the knowledge and abilities of the volunteer in our work will be very enriching for our organisation.
