Resumo: The European volunteers, will work together and they will search for new possibilities in the field of New Technologies, Education, Sorts, Entertainment, etc.

The Young Voluntary workers undertake to participate voluntarily in an active citizen and informative experience with the aim of acquiring Technical, Social, Intercultural and personal skills, tools for their own future and at the same contribute to the wellbeing of the community.

Perfil: Positive adaptable and creative people. It will be good if they are very interested to work on the creation of 3D games, Educational software plus Cultural, Educational, Tourist nd Sport Web sites.

Because, for some days, the role of the volunteers is “assistant teacher”, they have to meet the Greek (parents) prototype of a teacher.
This means that a person that has strange tattoos (devils, etc) or strange piercing, uses any kind of drugs or is walking around the city with a bottle of alcohol in his/her hand is not accepted by the local community as a person who deals with their children.

Tarefas: a) Youth Information
The European Volunteers will:
- Take part in the realization of many projects.
- Participate in the process of Sports, Cultural and Educational activities and promote the European dimension.
- After learning Greek they will try to make contacts with local young people and children, to encourage and share with them their own experience to develop the values of Technology Education and Sports and to promote new ways of access to the information like Internet and offer them the way to create projects or the way to get any kind of information.

b) Computer programs
The main activity of the Volunteers is to take active part in the realisation of Non-profit making Educational, Sports, Tourist and Cultural programs and Presentations.
Our aim is to give them the opportunity to come closer to New Technologies, learn and develop creative projects through practical and theoretical exchange of knowledge (cooperative learning) and feel free to express them selves, and receive knowledge that will help them for all their life.

c) Computer cooperation
Basic activity is to work on the use of Computer software and basic information terminology and realise Cultural, Educational Sport and and Tourist computer software in cooperation with the other EVS volunteers and local youngsters. Those programs will be free for the use from all the youngsters of the world.

d) Inspiration
Preparation, Realization and Evaluation of Youth programs, Sport Events (sailing) and other youth activities. Texts translation from English or Greek to their mother language, Creation of many web sites, helping at the Sailing team or at the Swimming pool. (Depends of the period and the needs). Through this way, they will also serve as a communication bridge between their and our civilization.
After learning Greek, they will have essential contact with the local people aiming at the exchange of ideas that might lead to the realization of a project on Cultural, Educational or Youth issue. The volunteers may also benefit from other activities of the Institute in the field of New Technologies.

e) Our Place
The volunteers will help us keep our Institute and hosting place in order (electronic and other equipment), gardening etc.

Horário: The volunteers are working 6 hours per day, 5 days per week.

Because our organization is located in an island, it is not possible for the volunteers to do one or two day’s trip to other places. Because of that, our organization and volunteers decided to adapt the holidays at the school holidays. The volunteers are having 4 weeks holidays in the period of 12 months, (2 weeks in Christmas and 2 weeks in Greek Easter plus the Greek National Holidays.

Condições: House: Our project’s volunteers live in our organization’s house like one Multicultural family in shared rooms (Boys room or girl’s room) and are fully participating in all aspects of the house work.

The volunteers are responsible for making a cooking scheduler at home.
The hosting place is equipped with the necessary appliances to prepare their meals. We only ask them to give us a list of the goods they need each time for cooking at home, so we can supply them with. (Because of that it is impossible to host people with special diet or to shop expensive goods).

Because our project is taking place in a tourist island, we have one important rule:
In case that a friend or family member intents to visit the volunteers, they must book their own accommodation in a hotel and meet with the volunteers out of the working hours.
We prefer this visit to take place after the first half of the volunteer’s project.

Volunteers are not allowed to offer accommodation or food, to any person. We cannot provide “couple’s rooms”. In case that you will have a boyfriend / girlfriend during the project in Chios, you have to know that our volunteers house rule don’t permit to have this person in our EVS house, or you to live in his or hers or other house. You must meet him / her out of the EVS house.
