Resumo: Our organic farm Lisilis Biohof is a family farm located in Meiningen, a small village in Vorarlberg (the most western province of Austria) at the border to Switzerland. Lisilis Biohof is managed by the farmers Karl and Brigitte and their four children. Normally we also have a trainee who also lives on the farm. On our farm we have cows, calves, pigs, chickens, hares and dogs. Our products such as organic milk, milk products, vegetables, cereal-products and meat and sausages are sold in our own small shop on the farm. Moreover we deliver our products to shops and markets in our province.

During the year we also organise events such as “Brunch on the Farm” for the local community and we also take part in a school programme in which school and kindergarten groups come to our farm and work with us and get to know how a farm works. The volunteer also has the possibility to work out his/her own project that s/he can implement on the farm with our assistance.

Our aim is to raise the awareness for organic farming of both the volunteer and the local community.
The volunteer will get an insight into that most sustainable way of farming and will moreover have the chance for intercultural learning by getting in contact with the visitors and customers of the farm and by delivering our products to shops and markets.

Perfil: - The volunteer should be close to nature and interested in organic gardening.
- Motivation to work in this field,
- motivation to work outside and to do manual work is essential. - He/She should be open to integrate in the family and open for kids.

To live in the project and with the family can be a very intensive and not always easy experience but will give also a great opportunity to get to know the culture deeply and see a lot of traditional habits.

The volunteers should be aware that sometimes, due to weather conditions, flexibility is necessary.

Tarefas: • Working in the stable with the animals:
Give the animals food and take care of them, milk the cows and clean the stable.

• Milk-processing:
Making yogurt and cheese. Prepare and clean the machines, produce lables and prepare orders for clients.

• Working on the field with vegetables:
Sowing, weeding, harvesting and storaging; also preparing them for the market and the farm shop.

• Help so sell the vegetables:
Help in the shop, prepare the small shop before it opens. Deliver the orders to the clients. Help to promote the products.

• Help with the events:
Work with the family and support them during the “Brunch on the Farm”.

If it is possible and the volunteer is motivated there is also a possibilty to work with the school programme.

The volunteer has also the possibility to do her/his own project that fits his/her interests.

Together with the volunteer the Hosting Organisation will see which activities fit his/her interests and what he/she would like to learn. Apart from that the volunteer will also do some regular work on the farm.
